Was I acting paranoid?

I was looking to take a medical billing class and saw one advertised in my paper. I looked the company on google and couldn't find it, not even doing a search for medical billing schools. So I'm skeptical to begin with but make an appt to talk to them. I go today and it is located in a little strip mall, actually between 2 small strips. In the middle of these buildings is a gated courtyard, opened with a sign for the school. It just said such and such school downstairs. I walk through the gate into an alleyway. There is a steel door to the right with an intercom, no marking on the door. Further back is the back of the building. I look at the door, look towards the deserted back of the building, turn around and leave. To me something just seemed fishy. No sign on the door, it just spooked me. So am I clinically paranoid or what!

That is wierd and I would have done the same thing. It probably isn't anything, but I would call your local police department just in case.

Be careful of medical billing school claims that you can take a class and work from home. I did medical billing, in a Dr's office but asking a Dr to give you all his claims to do from your home is a long shot at best. What you are really asking is for the physician to trust someone who took a ?? hour class to be responsible for his income. This is a bit much to ask. I've seen messes left by billers and they have almost bankrupted the Dr's and these people were in the office. If you want to do billing, expect to work in the office and you won't be dissapointed. BTW, I would have also run for the hills by the sound of that school. I didn't take a class but did work for an insurance company paying all types of medical bills so I was exposed to every type of billing. Good luck and if you have any ??, let me know. Amy
