was DD disney ever known as Lake Buena Vista Village. i seem to remember on one of my previous trip many years ago doing some shopping, renting a paddle boat on a lake in close proximity to WDW.
I still call it "the village" also! I remember the paddleboats, especially b/c my dad and I went to close to the edge of the lake and got stuck! I also remember the character breakfast on the Empress Lilly... memories....
I loved it back then! There was the Village Resturant which was very good. The Empress Lily. Where the pin trading is now use to be open for different events. It was a much quieter place.
My very first trip back in '76 we stayed at the Howard Johnson's and would walk over to the Village at night. I've got some great memories of back then with my mom.
when we first visited wdw in '96 it was the "disney village marketplace". dh had a conference at the hotel royal plaza and we walked over several times. it was cute.
Sure was. The original name when it first opened was the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village. You can visit http://www.bigbrian-nc.com/wdw-pc13.htm to still see what it looked like.
Boy this brings back memories....on our FIRST trip, my mom took us to have dinner on the Empress Lilly,it was gorgeous. Only she didn't know it was VERY dressy(oops) so off we went, and had dinner somewhere in the Village, and it was the first time any of us had seen GREEN linguini!! This was of course 1979, WAYYYYYY back in the day. Good memories!
