warts and duct tape

How weird is this -- DS used to get warts all the time when he was little and nothing we could do would get rid of them. My biological mother told me of an old wives tale where she gave him money, and then took it back and that would cure the warts. So she gave him a quarter, then took it back off of him.

Well, I'll be darned. The wart went away and he never got another one again. :confused3 So. Bizarre.

My dd had a huge wart on the outside of her big toe. The dermatologist gave her several options...1. freezing it, but that could take several visits 2. Compound W, 3. spitting beetle juice dropped on it, but again, several visits possible (I kid you not...beetle juice!!) or 4. Duct tape and a pumice stone. Number 4 was the winner! She tried the Compound W, but it didn't work at all. So..each night she would wash her feet, then rub the wart with the pumice stone lightly, and apply the duct tape. She would change the duct tape every night after pumicing the wart. It took about two weeks, but the wart is gone and none have reappeared, so far.

So I clicked on this thread simply because the title caught me as funny, and wow, I learned something! My youngest DD has a planters wart on the bottom of her foot, so I'm going to give this a try! :goodvibes

DD has one on the side of her heel, and I can't get the duct tape to stick and stay on. Her wart is very tall, and I can't get a good seal with her foot. Any suggestions?
Yes. Forget about the duct tape and use a commercial wart-removal medication like Compound W, or one of the other OTC options. They're designed specifically for the purpose. As I mentioned previously, my daughter's warts were gone in less than three weeks, with once daily applications (before bed).

I am thinking the same thing. Did the Compound W hurt your DD? Did you cover it over night?

Thanks, Denae

my DS had a huge wart on his thumbsucking thumb since he was an infant/toddler. My peditrician told that eventually your body will produce antibodies for them and they will go away. He also told me about the duct tape, but he was not quite ready to give up the thumb. We also had a lady who wanted me to bring him to her to do some sort of "magic" on him to make it go away. When he was about five, thank goodness, it went away - quickly! Never to return again. Hallelujah! :cool1: That thing was big and gross, even if it was on my precious sweet child
