WARRIORS Sizzling into September

Hey everyone.

Tracy as i said on facebook GREAT WORK! that really was a smashing time :)

SarahCheshiahud Loop runs sound ideal, but I can see how the same route loses it's sparkle. 4 lots of 6 milers is very impressive :)

Lily never mind the pace- it's 8 miles!!!! you did good

As a few of you have probably seen i'm in a slightly sulky moment right now as my shin is not feelings good at all with exactly 1 week to half marathon day :( Been massaging like crazy and freezing myself :rotfl: but any other advice would be greatly apprecited. If it's not good i won't do the race as will not compromise WDW!!!! So been cross training- wii sports active fri, swim sat and crosstrainer & bike this morning- none of which have been painfree! AAAHHHH running is so frustrating :sad2:

Good Morning Warriors!

Out for a Long Steady Distance today of 9 miles. Felt good. Changed my Jog/walk to 1min15sec/10min and it didn't feel too bad. I am a bit sore from yesterdays PR in the 5K. I am sure it will all work itself out. Half Marathon training is coming along nicely for the Spacecoast Half in Nov. According to training I am supposed to be doing 8 miles today, but I am fixing the schedule some as the RFTT is cutting into the schedule. So I am ahead of the schedule and using the RFTT 10k as a mileage drop week, hehe.

Kate: Shin Splints - ugh!! Can you take like a week off from running? Do some strength training of the lower leg with those stretchy bands. I was told by the PT that my lower leg was not "balanced", you have this triangle that is supposed to support all the weight - big toe, pinky toe and ankle. When one is out of wack it messes it up. Could be overuse, increasing miles too quickly, pronation, or something of this nature. I have this green stretch band thing and did exercises at home. Sitting in a chair or floor, put the rubber band around your foot - under the ball of the foot. Point your toes toward the floor while pulling with your hands for resistance and slowly return. Then do the opposite but will need a partner to pull putting the band in the opposite side. This works the muscles of the shin and calf. Then work the inner and outter by pulling from the outside with the band and pointing inward and then pull on the band from the other side and point or push the foot outward. 3 reps of 10 everyday. Then massage getting into those tight spots and ice. Hope that helps.

Hey Warriors! My training schedule at work is finally coming back to normal. I have been working 130AM-10AM!! My training has been spotty thanks to this schedule in addition to hurting my back and coming down with some kind of bug last week. Anyhoo, I am getting back into it now! I have been updating my miles when I have been able to get out there and run.

AND I am doing RFTT!!

Roxy-Congrats!!

Kate--I hope your shin feels better!

Tracy--Awesome job on the 5k!!

Yo Warriors. Good to see everyone logging their miles.

I got out for 18 today. I left earlier to beat the heat, which helped compared to the last two weeks.

Have a great Sunday all!:thumbsup2

Hi Warriors,

I haven't run since Tuesday, but I did a spin class on Wednesday. I think I over did it and did something to my knee.

I had to fly down to Southern CA for a wedding and so there's my weekend, no running for me.

I have a half marathon next weekend, so wish me luck!

Hi Warriors!

Anyone else all about today's 4/3 and 5/2 extravaganza? We upgraded from 5 nights at POP to 7 nights at CSR and now have 7 day park hoppers. I like POP, but now that we're combining marathon weekend with our honeymoon (following the great Honda Fit collision incident earlier this month) I feel much better saying that I didn't spend my honeymoon in the 80's section of Pop Century! :lmao:

Got another 6 miler in yesterday, and looking forward to my next 6 miler tomorrow. :confused3 Oh well, I have my first double digit run (11 miles) of my Goofy training this Sunday, so at least I have something longer to look forward to!

Nice Job Sarah and hooking up for the deal!!! yay!!!

OK Warriors!!

The End of the month will be here TOMORROW and you all know what that means, right??

Please, Please, please (can you see me begging?:confused3) Log your miles and time for September here or on the spreadsheet. Please.
I am still looking from some folks for their times and miles for last month , eh hmm Stacey and hubby?

Thanks everyone for being Warriors and hanging in there. One foot in front of the other and keep up with your training!!

Marcia: Sorry to hear about the knee, take care!

Tracy

Kate- Take teh week off of all activitiy that cousees any pain and ice. You will NOT loose any physical ability adn your legs will bein teh ebst possible shapre fro the half. :wizard:

Amy - Hope you are 100% soon!

Marcia - Good luck!! :wizard:

Jeff - Way to go on the 18!

Tracy - WTG on the pr!!!:cool1::banana::cool1: Thanks for all you do! Off to put teh rest of my workouts in teh spreadsheet!

Had teh best lR I've had in a while Saturday. 8 mmiles. decent pace. It might be the nice weather finally coming. However, it brought rainy, blustery weather eysterday. DIdn't want ot go to the TM, so did our mew Wii Active. OMG, kicked our butts!!!

Hey team.

Got out for my 8 1/4 in 1:14. My training partner is going to be traveling for the next month, so I get a break!!!

I'll be spending some time on the bike as cross training. Looking forward to the rest with him not around! :rotfl2:

Hey Warriors!

2 runs done this week, one more to go before I do Race for the Cure 10K on Saturday which I will make in to my LSD for the week!

Feeling so much better!

And my totals are updated through today! Can't wait for October to start!!

Happy End of September Warriors!!

I have slowly degraded to "intermittent poster" status for the last few weeks , mostly 'cause it has been "blah" around here the last few weeks. Training has been a bit difficult, primarily due to the weather, with a healthy dose of "I don't reallly feel it today" tossed in.

Up until the last 2 days, it has still been REALLY hot & humid here, except when that has been pushed aside by the truly SWELTERING days.

It has started to get a little bit cooler & the RH has really dropped, so maybe more productive days are ahead. I got a 6.5 miler in 57:00 yesterday (RFTT practice) & a 38.5 mile bike ride this morning, so it's starting to get better.

I worked the EEC on saturday as a bike medic. Those of you there may have seen me. I was the guy in the red shirt on the bike soaked to the skin. There just comes a few times in one's life when it is just pointless to even attempt to stay dry & this was one of them. But if my (20 y.o.) baby girl can run it in the rain, I can bike it. It WAS kind of fun in a perverse, masochistic kinda' way.

On a bit of a sad note, a friend of my DW lost her 20 month battle with breast cancer last week. She was 36 years old & leaves behind her husband and 3 children. Rest well, Heather. It was a battle well fought.:thumbsup2

JimI'm so sorry to read about your friend- it's always an incredibly brave fight and hopefully she is resting and at ease now.

Amy :cool1::yay: for feeling better! 2 runs this week sounds good and all in prep for what should be a brilliant 10k. Hurray

Jeff what's the bet that before you know it your trainers are on and your out alone for a run? :rotfl: it's fab that you have such a motivating partnership though.

Carrie is that the wii EA Sports Active with stretchy band and leg strap? My word it is hard work! it's the only Wii game that is guaranteed to bring on a sweat. Thanks for the encouraging words too and well done on your best LR- isn't it an awesome feeling!

Noodle thrasher aka tracy thanks again for your motivation and hard work. I hope we're mostly being an obedient lot! Please let us know if you're struggling at any time.

Sarah your long run will be fantastic- i can feel it :woohoo: Hmm i'm sensing some disney deals that we're not getting over here so might pop on your site to check them out!

Marcia how's your knee doing? So sorry it's sore and rubbish after putting in so much effort on the bike.

Me ok another swim and this morning a cruel deep muscle massage of my leg. It turns out i have shin splints (not convinced that it's fully developed tho!) and also a massively sore 'trigger point' in my calf. Physio squashed that one little point for 15 MINUTES. I couldn't speak it was that painful. He's given me odds of 60:40 that i'll be able to run on sunday. Hmmm. Planned a swim tomorrow then a short grass run on friday to see if it's doable before a physio follow up on saturday. MAN! Why is it these things happen the week before a race? Oh well, should get more work done this week i guess :rotfl:

Random update: So I got into the Arthritis Foundation office this morning (I volunteer Mondays and Wednesdays) and was immediately accosted and asked if I could run a marathon on Sunday. :lmao: Turns out the AF has an extra spot in the Portland Marathon this weekend that has been paid for, and they could use someone to run it. It is just a marathon; no half marathon distance. Am I crazy for even considering it?

It's not even 100% that it'll work out from a logistical standpoint, so I don't know if it'll happen, but am I crazy for even considering running a marathon when I only have an 11-miler on tap for Sunday? It's supposed to be very walker-friendly.... :rotfl:

Sarah: :scared1:, hey but if it is walker friendly then it might be doable.

Kate: I hated my massages during PT in my shin, but they did wonders!! I would say don't do your runo on the grass and just do some cross training. At the event if it really starts to bother, then walk. But that is just me.

Jim: Gald to hear the Humidity is letting up for you. It is here but only a tad, last night was nice here. Na dsorry to hear about your friend's wife, so sad.

OK WARRIORS!!! September is over and on to Ocotber....
