WARRIORS Sizzling into September

Sarah i was shocked reading your thread. So so pleased you're ok, but very sorry to hear you have had to cancel your honeymoon. Wow you take really good care of yourself and make sure you have plenty of cuddles with james!

Roxy very excited for you- hope you get to hear the little sproglet today!

One day late but i'm pleased to report my second longest pre-half run was ticked off yesterday. 12.02miles in 1:43:00 so very happy with that- there was a 4 mile uphill bit from 2-6miles which was hard work but feel v proud didn't stop until got to the top.

Had a slightly emotional weekend moving out of my parents house- it came as a bit of a shock to me how upset i was at first. I love my parents to bits and don't really like the thought that we're all getting older and growing up... at least in physical terms anyway! Happy week everyone

Hey kids!!

It is STILL sizzling here in Florida! Is there ANYPLACE where anyone is running in cool weather?? Color me jealous. Hot & Humid are the keywords here, soooooo, my training is not what one would call "high quality".

Right now I'm good for about 4 GOOD miles & then 1-3 lousy quality miles tacked on.

Biking is ok, & I am (theoretically) hitting the pool for the first time in a looooong time tomorrow. I have to do a timed swim for my Marine Rescue Technician certification at work in a few weeks, & I have to make sure I am faster than all of the young punks at work. ;)

I guess it's time for serious marathon training again..................... Mickey is less than 4 months off!!!!

Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear your woes. Glad though that you are ok. Thanks for the reminder about reading everything.

I did a Half in Erie PA on the 13th. Jim, it was not totally hot weather. I did better than I expected. Still much work is needed, but it was a great experience for me. Oooh and this was such a lovely flat course! It was fun to see the marathon winners too. You see, I got to see them as they lapped me! There were at least 30 marathoners that lapped me as I was struggling to get to the finish line of the half. Those guys were amazing!

Lily - In Detroit 2 eyars ago, teh crowd was oign nuts as we came in. WTH? Oh, teh people next to us were finishing the full with olympic qualifying times. lol. Just amazing!

Sarah - OMG! SO glad you are mostly ok. how awful abotu teh insurance.:hug::hug::hug:

Kate - Yes, so hard to see our parents getting older. SOrry it was so much harder than you expected ot make the breka. HOpe oyu and bf are adjusting well, though!

Had my last tri of teh season Saturday. great racce, great community support. Didn't really get to snalzye my times until today.

Weekend was so busy, that I couldn't compare ti tot former times until today.

Here's the breakdown:

Swim (1/2 mile) 20 seconds more than my PR. but 6 min off last year. :-O
Bike (17.2) - Best pace ever! Close to 1mpm faster than last year too!
Run (4.9)- Best pace this year. A little worse than last year, but I did awesome last year. After my running slump this year, I am very pleased.

Total - 8 min and 5 sec better than last year! Very happy!

Carrie, way to go on your tri. Same goes for Iron Matt.

I neglected to post 12 miles in the heat on Sunday. Got in 11.5 tonight. Increasing the mileage for December's Honolulu Marathon.

Have a great day everyone.

Roxy - Crossing my fingers you get the "go ahead" to do the Half!!

Kate: I am not quite over my greenness of the DL Halfers. Nice run that you put out!! Yes, moving out can be a bit emotional than what we think. Can just grab ya when you least expect it. Hope your settling in.

Jim: still pretty hot and humid down here in S.FL. Not to worry as it will be coming shortly (the "cooler" weather) maybe. haha. Hey come join some WISHers at the Spacecoast in November!

Lily: Great job on you PA Half! I always find it a bit weird when I am doing a half and getting passed by the full marathoners.

Carrie: Nice work at your Tri - congrat!

Jeff: I think you forgot to mention the 8:30 pace on that last run. Like I said, just strap some wings on and you will be flying!!

AFM: Still moving. haha I put in biking and walking today after 4 miles last night after work. I got today off at the last minute, I figured since I will not be able to get my miles in of Thursday that I would get them in today! So total for today 9.27 miles!! Hope all is well with everyone.

-Racey Tracy

Tracy: Yay for last minute time off!

Carrie: Hurray for getting in the last tri of the year!

Lily: Congrats on your second half in two weeks!

Kate: Moving out that first time can be quite emotional - you're all grown up! :goodvibes Are you all settled in, yet?

Roxy: Congratulations again on your very exciting news! I'm so happy for you and your family!

As for me, I did get my incredibly long and painful 5 mile "run" in, as scheduled, yesterday. I use the term run loosely, as it was mostly small spurts of slow and careful jogging, followed by serveral minutes of walking. Walking doesn't hurt, but running jostles my shoulder a lot. However, I was able to roll over and turn off the alarm clock this morning with a manageable amount of pain, so obviously I'm getting better. I also spent a wonderful afternoon yesterday in the sun on the golf course, volunteering for the Arthritis Foundation's annual golf tournament fundraiser. My post was on the hole with the hole-in-one contest for a new Cadillac SUV, so it was fun to hang out with the $50 000 vehicle and tease all the guys trying desperately to win it. :rotfl:

I also woke up with a bit of a cold today, so I'm hoping to kill it with tea and rest. I also have my second yoga class tonight, so it'll be interesting to see how much I can do with my injuries (Hint: My Guess? Breathing exercises.).

Okay, here is the deal. Got the ok from the doc to do Goofy yeah!!! One catch. I have to keep my heart rate under 150. Ok go out for a run today and my heart rate monitor is going off. Great I cannot run period. I have found I can walk a 14 minute mile for now and keep my heart rate down. Now I am looking for a Goofy buddy. Someone who will be like a 3 hour + half finisher and 6+ for full. Does anyone know when they might start posting for people to walk or run with?

ROxy! Wow, so cool tha toyu are OK for Goofy! Wow. Usually the ppacing posts don't come for a while. Feell free to post it yourself or just post looking for a partner. I'm sure there are many ou tther going for thsoe times who could use your help on the course.

Jeff - Wow, doing a full in Dec and January? Holy cow! (lol, my tri and IronMatt shoudl nto be in the same post. :rotfl:)

Sarah - SO osorry about the soreness. please be careful!

Tracy - HAve fun watching the game tomorrow! Way to get the work outs in.

OK, had my firs weekeday run in ages tongiht. 40 min in a really bad place (mind and body, not geography). Hoping it's from 2 weeks of illness and Saturday's tri. Not pretty, but at least I didn't skip it.

OK, I must wax phisophical fro a mmoment. LAst week, Debra commented on teh monthly thread taht I was a warrior. Funny, when the team naem was set, I ckind of thoguht, "I'm no warrior". Was not thrilled iwth it at all. It's grown on me, though. After Debra's comment, it really hit home, though. That is what we are. We tough it out. We get teh oojb done. It's not always pretty but we hang in there adn get support from our other warriors when we need it. So, just wanted to let you all know that I'm darn proud to be a warrior! :goodvibes

Hey Warriors!

It's been forever since I posted (I was procrastinating on trying to add up my miles and times for August... still haven't done it, but wanted to see what was happening;)).

Sarah- hope the wrist is better! That really stinks.

Looks like everyone's been putting in some good miles!

I finished my tri at the beginning of September- poor Carrie had to talk me through a few meltdowns along the way in training! :rolleyes1 It was great fun. I really liked finally moving fast on those roads around Disney- it's a lot quicker on a bike (even a rented slow bike!) I think I might aim for another tri in May. That will give me time to keep from making a hasty bike decision and steel my nerves for an ocean swim! (A murky ocean, not Jeff's ocean!)

It gets really crazy around here this time of year. I couldn't find a race anywhere 2 months ago and now I'm having to try to pick my favorites so I'm not racing every weekend! :rolleyes1 I'm doing a 5k on Saturday. Harry wants to do the fun run. Is it insane to consider running 1 mile with a 3.5 year old?? I may get my mom to bring him and wait until the last minute to judge his mood...

I'm thinking about doing a half in two weekends- I haven't done a decent LR in forever, but it works into my schedule. I'm thinking that's more appropriate logic to say, a 5k, and not a half.

ROXY-- Congratulations!!! I'm not an expert, but I ran during my last pregnancy. Technically I ran the Goofy while pregnant but I was just 6 weeks and didn't know. I did the Minnie 15k at 20 weeks and a bunch of 5ks and 10ks. I did stop running 2 months before I had the baby, but it was more weather-related than the pregnancy (I had him in Sept). My doctor told me to just make sure I could keep talking- Becky/Lexxiefern and I chatted all through the 15k (is she a good friend, or what!) I found running 1-3 minutes/mile slower worked fine. I also found taking extra rest days for when I was just too tired worked fine...

Lily, Jeff, Marcia and anyone else at DL, have a great time and think of us!! hehe

I have updated all the spreadsheets and the first post for the month.

Here is some house cleaning that I need to do:

I need miles and times for August from...
Stacey and Jeff
Ken
Katarina
Michelle
Erika
Marcie
Jen
Roxanne

Also Jennifer with 7.95 and Brandie with 18 are these the current numbers for August?

I have also noticed and not sure if I have this right but I am missing some times and miles for different months...
April: Marcie
July: Erika

Thanks everyone for getting in those miles and doing a great job everyone!!

Tracy

Hi Tracy....I know, I know...I have been a terrible Warrior these past few months! I know how hard it must be to keep track of all of us, and I truly do appreciate it.

Miles and Minutes for July & August:

July - 88 miles; 22:15
August = 58 miles; 18:30

I seem to have lost the link to the spreadsheet, so I have not updated there.

Thanks again and I will do my best to be better...especially that I am now officially training for marathon week-end!

Erika

Thanks Erika!!!:thumbsup2:cool1:;)

Here is the link to the spreadsheet, if you don't have persmissions to add to it I need your email and then I will send you permission so you can place your own time and miles on it!

-Racey Tracy

I did a nice 4 miles this morning and used my Timex Ironman for the first time. Trying to add some jogging to my racewalking to get faster times. So I tried a 1 min jog with a 12 min racewalk and that seemed to work well for 4 miles. Tomorrow is Long Distance Day and that will be either an 8 or 9 miler.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tracy

Hi all again...

I think I will PM those missing miles and times for August. It is the middle of August already and I am still hunting a few of us down for this information.
Please if we can just post our time at the end of every month or use the spreadsheet to put your numbers in by the end of the month.

Thanks so much everyone...
Need August data for:

ImMarciK-Marcie
Hoosmi-Jen
Tink06-Stacey
GrumpyinNY-Jeff

Michelle - you gave me miles for August, but no Time???

Tracy

Hi Warrios -

I just want to say...whew! What a whirlwind September it has been. Not only did I start out Sept running the DL half and meeting up with all the WISHER's, I stayed the week to go to the D23 expo (tons of fun), sisters birthday weekend, and next weekend I am headed back down to the Southern California area for my cousins wedding, then back up to SF Bay Area to visit the Disney Museum for their D23 preview night.

I'm trying to keep up with my training schedule for Goofy and so far so good, but not as many miles on the weekend as I have planned.

Sara - I'm glad you're okay after that accident. Take the time to recover and don't rush back to running. Your body will thank you in the long run

Kate - Congratulations on taking the big step and moving out. It's a bitter sweet moment in everyones life. I hope you enjoy it.

Lily - serious 2 half marathons? :thumbsup2

Hi Michelle & jeff, my two roommates for the DL half.

Hi Tracy - I hope you like the things I sent.

Carrie - congrats on the Tri! I think we have more Tri'ers on the Warriors team than I thought...WTG!

Cheers

15 miles in the heat for me. 4 miles into it I was feeling HOTTER than hell. Eased off on the gas, and let the trailblazers take off without me. Got it done. Makapuu lighthouse back to Kapiolani park.

Went to watch the US Airforce Thunderbirds on Saturday and Sunday. Great show!

Yo Mushu! and all the other WISHers out there reading.

The T-Birds were out here last week!

Hi Warriors!

Quick update from me because it's getting to be past my bedtime!

I finally got out again today with DH and Jack for 9 miles.... not pretty at all. We started at dusk and it turns out that my normal 9 mile route does not work so well in the dark - we had to walk a lot of dark areas with uneven ground. And then, with 2 miles to go, DH developed a monster blister and took off his shoes and walked the rest of the way. :lmao: But the slow pace was probably good for my shoulder, so it's not a bad thing.

I also had my Girls on the Run coach training session yesterday.... I'm logging 3 hours for that. :rotfl: During the course of the 8 hour training session, we modeled/role played 6 of the lessons, and each lesson has a warm up, stretching, workout, and cooldown stretching. At least I was well-stretched by the end of the day! It was a lot of fun, though, and I'm really looking forward to starting to coach next week!

We also went car shopping today and ended up buying a 2010 Prius! DH has been jonesing for a hybrid for years (we couldn't get one when we bought our Honda because gas was $4 a gallon and the waiting list for hybrids in Seattle was nearly a year long) and I think that the size and features of the Prius will be a good fit for our family for quite a few years. We'll be picking it up mid-week, so just in time for me to haul around 25 child-size water bottles for Girls on the Run! :woohoo:

Hey everyone I'm so so sorry for not poppin on much recently. We don't have the internet yet in our new house, so I'm relying on mum visiting trips to get on sites that I don't feel I can look at when working!

First off thanks very much for all of your well wishes. It's actually really good now and I've realised that I don't have to grow up too much and mum's not far away :rotfl: She seems to be doing ok and is still getting a lot of quality child time :thumbsup2 Now we have a sofa it's feeling more like a home, the garden chairs have been relegated to their rightful place as of yesterday!

Sarah oh your run in the dark sounds likes a real adventure. I'm very glad you were with DH and Jack tho, wouldn't fancy that on your own. Girls on the Run is such a wonderful idea and I bet they're so inspiring. Do the girls have to be good runners or can anyone join?

Jeff sorry about the heat.... still! Thunderbirds looked brilliant- have to admit i had a sneaky look on facebook!

Marcia I think you're doing wonderfully well with all of that excitement of September. Goofy training's so intense that I'm guessing it doesn't take much to through you off a bit, but with so much hard work I think you're allowed the odd shorter run!!!!

Tracy awesome that you've started to jog too. How's that feeling on your joints? Does it seem very different?

erika whoop for official training time! It's lovely to see you.

Jen wow how cool that you can pick and choose races, such a good position to be in. I think it's wonderful how inspiring you must be to your kiddies if harry already wants to do a run! Hey it's not all about long runs anyway!

Carrie i'm sorry you didn't like being a warrior to start with, but so pleased you're feeling it now. You are a warrior, a strong, powerful and inspiring warrior at that. :goodvibes

Roxy hurray :cool1::yay::woohoo: you've been given the all clear. Is it all sinking in a bit now? I'm surrounded by weddings and pregnant people at the moment so I can almost feel the excitement from here!

OK i can't remember when i last posted, but i had a running lesson on thursday which was 5 miles and hill intervals (my instructor ate blackberries whilst watching me!), it was intense. Missed my long run as went to cheer for my DBF as he ran the Great North Run with 54000 entrants! He did amazingly, his first half marathon and he did it in 1hr 46:30!!!!! last long run due tomorrow which should be 13 miles in prep for my half in two weeks. We'll see!

Hopefully internet should be set up tomorrow so i'll be back to my regular pesky self!!! Keep it up guys
