Ever do a Warrior Dash? Looks similar to Muddy Buddy. A friend wants me to do this with her next month but I am a girly girl who does not like to get dirty or have my hair messed up. Cool medal though!!

Here's my recap..

Or you could go hashing instead and do the same sort of thing every weekend for a lot less money :)

Some friends and I are talking about doing the NY one in August - thanks for the link, Disneygirlinnj! Sounds like a blast!

Cool!

OK, so I have a dumb question - how do you ensure that you and your friends are in the same wave?

Not a dumb question! When you register, you kinda both have to do it around the same time. There's a drop down list on the registration screen that allows you to select which wave you want to start in. It will also show which ones are already full. So make sure you guys communicate which wave you're both choosing! :)

Great, thanks. There's actually three couples planning on doing it, but us three "better halves" ;) work together, so we'll plan on registering when we're at the office so we can all be in the same wave. We're thinking Saturday would be the preferred day, and I'm gathering that you feel like it is too. We probably should get on the ball next week and sign up!

And just to note for anyone...in case the Warrior Dash seems too pansy for you, check out: http://toughmudder.com/
The map and obstacle descriptions for the New England one are here: http://toughmudder.com/events/new-england/mount-snow-course-map-2011/ Yeah, that's in the "how about never" category for me! They started losing me around the greased monkey bars obstacle :lmao:

Yea we chose Saturday so that we can hang out and enjoy the party afterwards instead of running home so we can work the next day.

And my ex boyfriend just completed Tough Mudder a month or so ago. He said it was INSANE but loved every minute of it. If I survive the full marathon on Sunday I might consider it. :scared1:

Best of luck on Sunday, have a great race! :cheer2:

And if you do the Tough Mudder you will officially be my idol!

I plan to do the warrior dash in oregon this year. It's the first 5K i've officially done! It looks like a blast.

Tough Mudder is coming to Michigan (although not sure if it's this summer or next). I told a friend I would sign up. Looks like a blast (except for the weird electro-shock thing!)

HELP!!! My DS 17 and his dad are doing the Warrior Dash and they are very fit, I had a weak moment and decided to join them. I have never even done a 4km We have until July to get ready. Any pointers?????:worship:

WD is a ton of fun! When we did our first, I had been working out with Jillian Michael's and had done Insanity but no running....I had no problem finishing. The obstacles are fun and fairly easy, when compared with other races such as Spartan or Tough Mudder. You will see people of ALL fitness levels at this race. I would just run 3-4 times a week with one longer run of 5-6 miles (not sure what exercise you do at this point) and do some light strength training and you will be fine!

Thanks! I have a way to go! I haven't ran in about 6 months but I was running 5 km. Today I managed 2km but I know I can work up to it. Now I have a reason to push myself. If anyone has any more tips please keep them coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should be fine. Warrior Dash's are not really about time, but having fun. I would train for the distance and work on some upper body strengthening (push ups, etc). You can bypass any obstacles that you aren't comfortable with, but the obstacles will zap a lot of your energy, so just understand that!

I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome, we are already planning next year. My 17 year old son placed first in his age group (by over 2 minutes) and tenth overall. We are so proud of him because this was his first race :cool1::cool1:
