Warning: Theif Running Around In VMK

There is a theif in VMK namedName Removed She stole my cowboy hat, from a may I try it on pretty plz. I told her, yes. But if she runs off I will report her. Right now, staff is doing NOTHING. So, If you see her, tell her I'm looking for my hat back, and she was reported.

Also, The contact page is faster when you say you are a parent, but that is hard for those of you over 14.

you wouldnt believe what one person tried to do...

She said that she was yavn...
I said no, your not.. yavn only has one known account..
So then she said she was yavn's sister (-_-)..
Then said that she wanted one of my teleportations because the staff made a rule that you can't have more then one magic pin on (-_-)..
I said no and no and no again untill i just turned it off after saying inpersonating staff and trying to steal items from other players is against VMK rules and values...
She left.. I reported
All VMK had to say was

if a person is annoying you just ignore them by clicking on them...

is anyone else getting annoyed by that message everytime you try and do something right?

anyways if she stole it there is no garanteed way of saying you will get it back. Maybe VMK staff will be kind enough to replace it if they catch her and ask her.

That's really a shame that she stole from you.

But then, that's why you should never let anyone "borrow" something from you. Only let people you completely trust borrow items from you and then you wouldn't have items stolen. I personally never know if staff is really going to do any good or not. So it's just a rule that no one can "borrow" from me unless I completely trust them.

NEVER LET ANOTHER PLAYER BORROW ITEMS YOU AREN'T AFRAID TO LOSE FOREVER .

The moderators will remove the name, as it's against DIS guidelines for
this board to name names.

It's a harsh reality, and maybe this thread will help some other person who
is too trusting in the game not fall for scams.

I hate that people do this in the game, and I'm sorry it happened.

i had something like that happen with my seagull hat. I know what I did was stupid but here it is: He said he could get me inferno for it. I gave it to him to get inferno because i suspected that i could just report him and get my hat back. I never got my hat back and doubt he was banned

I am very disappointed in you, Renpener, I think you know the rules of posting here and to post a name is an attack on that person member or not and will not be allowed.

Also while I am sorry that this happened to you and this is going to sound harsh but it is the reality of the situation and also how VMK looks at it....She did not steal your hat ...YOU GAVE IT TO HER....granted you wanted it back but the fact remains you GAVE it to her and VMK will not do anything about it.

It may have been a hard pill to swallow but I hope you have learned a lesson from it.

Exactly right, Mal and Lori. This is why VMK added the extra, "Are you sure" type pop-ups. To avoid any trickery. Never loan anything out to anybody. Next time someone asks to try something on, make sure you're willing to gift it to them. Keep something of theirs that is at least equal in value, so if you don't get it back you at least have something to trade for a replacement. If someone demands you give them something, click the "ignore" button. Wonderful button, btw! I use it myself.
Best thing to remember is this: It's just a game and it's only virtual stuff. Nothing but a few pixels on a computer screen.
Try to forget it and move on. People like that aren't worth wasting time thinking about.

Well, I thought I had that covered with my comment:

Never let anyone "borrow" any item you're not willing to lose forever.

I think it's a lesson the player will not likely repeat.

The interesting this is that I know I wrote VMK to suggest the "are you sure?"
prevention of players removing items from trade window. I was thrilled when
the changes were made.

I think parents should warn kids that there will be players who will try
to trick them out of their stuff, and never accept a trade without a parent
nearby.

There are always some kind of scam artists lurking in VMK. I think because it's a game people are a lot more bold in their stealing and lying and all of the games they do.

I run into one or two every day.

Players beware! Don't let a trade every put you in a position where you leave yourself open to get scammed.
