Warning - Suncoast Energy Gas Station Overcharges

SUNCOAST ENERGY gas station near Orlando Airport Rental car returns charges about $2.00 more per gallon than other gas stations in the area.

Instead look for other gas stations - there is one at a 7-Eleven about a mile down the road.

Respectfully, while they do charge a LOT more than other stations in the area and, yes, take advantage of the uninformed traveler, they're not breaking any laws. There's no cap on gasoline prices; there's no requirement in Florida to have the prices posted on a sign in front of a station; and the prices, astronomical though they may be, ARE available on the pumps (as required by law).

Jimbo we desperately needed gas, so we put 1 gallon in there and then drove down the road to the 7-11. It may be legal in Florida, but it sure does take advantage of tourists and in some other states it wouldn't be allowed. I personally think it is rotten!

I was shocked when I went there and thought for sure it was a mistake but it was not. I think it is price gouging when you are charging so much for a gallon of gas. $4 something is extremely high for the same stuff you can get everywhere else. I am also glad I looked before pumping the gas because I would have been livid.

We pulled in there one time.

I am very frugal and make sure I hit the cheapest gas when I fill up.

Luckily I looked @ the price on the pump before I did anything else.

We pulled right back out of that place and went on to the next one that actually posted a price on the sign!

THere were other patrons who had pumped a small amount, shut it off and went elsewhere as well.

kaytieeldr, they may not be breaking any laws, but from a moral stance, to intentionally not post your prices and charge so much more in an effort to take advantage of unsuspecting people, is just not right.

I make sure I tell anyone I know to steer clear of that place.

There is a law in Florida against gas stations gouging, but it only applies immediately before, during and after huirricanes. And it involves a sudden increase in price that cannot be justified by a change in the price charged to the station by the supplier.
