what i do when trading codes it i send a code like this 9example) 1234-5678-####-8907 with 4 numbers blocked out, ask them to do the same, and send 2 of the fill ins at a time. I have never done it here, but it works in Rl

You don't need to have the name PMed. Check the first page of this
thread, near the bottom. PinkGirlygirl (aka ThreeBoysMom on the DIS)
posted a link to the trade thread where this person (I'm guessing a kid)
all but admitted he/she didn't have the item offered to Jedi.

This is not going to help you with a scammer, they are just going to give you a fake code with #### blocked out like you did. There wouldnt be any way for you to check it was a real code until they give you the missing numbers or letters, and then its too late.
