Well it took a long time but I was scammed for the first time today!

I was to trade someone a JC room code for a HM clock code. Seem to good to be true? Well it was. I was never sent the code for the clock and that person will not respond to my private messages. Although i was wary from the start I was willing to give this person the benefit of the doubt.
Whenever possible please I urge all of you to trade item for item with the codes inputed before hand. Don't trade for codes for codes. I know it's different and unavoidable for some items.

Anyone need more info. PM me.

Jedi,

Did you get scammed off this board??

I hate that this has happened to you. :sad1:

Yes off this board.

I knew last year there was a person on the DIS who got burned from
a code trade. I'm sorry it happened to you. I'm wondering why you didn't
ask him to trade the actual clock and not the "code"?

I would have been suspicious of that from the start.

I also think I figured out something else. This person just joined the DIS. I don't trust
any new posters with trades, unfortunately. Not with codes, at any rate.

I know stupid me, i saw both warning signs, but he asured me that he was not new to VMK but new to DIS. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Oh well. Just wanted to warn everyone about this.

I dont want to beat a horse with a dead stick, but it may help others who are reading all this. Besides the obvious risk in trading for codes, never trade for a code, when its an item you could trade in the game.

Sorry this happened to you Jedi.

Ah, my good friend, I am so sorry this happened. What a terrible feeling, isn't it? But I hope I was able to offer a little bit of morale support during the whole ordeal. I am glad I took some snapshots as well, I have them on my computer just in case.

I guess sometimes we all tend to be trusting even with new people...wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Don't worry about the tent code, I will send you another tomorrow to replace the one you lost.

Hang in there, we are here for you.

Sorry to hear that Jedi. Shame some bad seeds are here. To everyone, beware of who you are trading with.

So sorry this happened to you Jedi :(. Could you also PM me the name of this person?

my goodness the person has only been on dis boards for a short time, and they are scamming already ,do you think they joined nthe board for that reason, sorry to hear of your bad luck, good luck with furture trades

Oh my! I am so sorry this happened to you :( and it was a new player too Thats awful!

Yes, Thanks everyone for all the support but things have been taken care of.
:)

:thumbsup2

Aww! Hugs!

This is why I rarely do code trades. I will never do a code for code. I will do code for an item as long as I get what ever I'm trading for first.
There are extremely few people I would trust otherwise in a code trade and it would never be a person new to the forum unless I knew them from elsewhere.

Yes, thats why I think they joined. Start date and post count should always be one of the factors you consider when debating wether or not you would trust a person in a code trade. Remember just ONE of the factors, its not something you can trust by itself.

That stinks. Sorry that happened to you. I went to the link and all I have to say is :sad2:. Shame on that person for doing that here.
