I just got an email from my MIL forwarded on to me from who knows how many other people.
In it, there is a claim that cell phone numbers are going national on November 10, and gives instructions on how to add your cell phone number to the National Do Not Call List.
The instructions, however, do not ADD your number. They DELETE it!
Here is the text of the email:
This is from the National Do Not call list website at:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/dncalrt.htm
You can delete your phone number only by calling toll-free 1-888-382-1222 from the telephone number you want to delete. After you contact the registry to delete it, it will be removed from the National Do Not Call Registry by the next day. But telemarketers have up to 31 days to access information about your deletion and add your number back to their call lists, if they choose to.
If you get this email, delete it or file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission!
