Warning: Love Bugs

Last weekend, on our way back home, our windshield was covered with dead love bugs. I've never seen it quite that bad. It did affect our visibility while driving. Even if you use windshield washer, it doesn't really work; it just smears the dead love bugs. Yes, the lines were long for the free windshield washers at the rest plazas.

So, drive safely and be prepared!

Ugg, they are bad this year! I was just outside and looked down to see at least 10 pairs crawling on my legs. Thank goodness these things don't bite.

Just when you think they might be starting to go, there's another influx. They have really overstayed their welcome this Spring.

Just got back from Orlando and noticed that the washer fluid wasn't a huge help. The scrubby things at the gas station were, though.

And the front of the rental car got covered in those things. Ick.

Still, love bugs in summer is better than ice in winter. Nobody lucky enough to live in Florida ever gets to complain.

They should be gone soon. We get them for about a month around May and again around September, but not as bad.

You want to get them off your car within a few days so the acidity in them doesn't mess with the paint. As for the windshield, the windshield scrapers get the worst off, at least to where you can see to drive, but when you get a chance, soapy water and Brillo or SOS does the best job.

They haven't been too bad by us, but when we drove down the turnpike to WDW Tuesday we started hitting them about halfway there. They weren't very noticable in Epcot except going through the ticket sales area.

Still better than ice...

They are bad! I drove over the alley yesterday, between the thick smoke and the yucky bugs, I could hardly see!
