My parents have just been to paris for 5 days to celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary, whilst they were there 2 other couples at their hotel were robbed whilst out and about (pick pocketed). Mum and Dad were extra careful, but yesterday as they made their way home, when they entered the underground station, Dad had a problem with the turnstil - there were only 2 at the station and this man came to help him, taking him backwards and forwards between the two, Dad eventually got through, and a couple of minutes later when he went to his bumbag to put away his ticket, his wallet was gone, he had unzipped it removed the wallet and zipped it up again all without his knowledge. Eventually they found an english speaking policeman who told them that this is a major problem in Paris at the moment. he lost around £180, 400 euros and bank and credit card and drivers licence. All cards have been stopped and he has already downloaded a claims form for insurance so anyone travelling their this summer TAKE EXTRA CARE....
