I am so sorry to read you had this trouble -problems do occur but the way in which they are resolved is the important thing and it sounds as if you didn't get good service .As Isla Bonita says as owners reputation is everything and we rely on our agents on site to provide as good a service as we would like to be able to provide ourselves.

Absolutely :thumbsup2 We completely understand that problems occur, but it gets to be a problem when you're stranded in Florida without any help! I just looked up your vacation home, and wow! It's absolutely gorgeous! We'll be renting a home with family next year so I may be sending you an e-mail about some more info. The houses we ended up staying in this year was in Lake Davenport Estates and we LOVED the two-story homes!

Jan home is lovely. and she has helped many disers when they had problems.

but go do it fast - her house stays booked.

I think this is Isla Bonita

What do you do with your dog while you are out and about?

Do you leave it at the rental home or take it to Disney and put it in Disney kennels for the day?

How long was your drive from Davenport? Two of the places I'm looking at staying at Davenport Lakes or Hampton Lakes. THe houses websites say it's 10-15 minutes, but I've read things on DIS saying it's taken as long as an hour because of construction or traffic or whatnot. I don't mind a 15-20 minute drive, but I don't want a commute of an hour! WOuld love to hear frist hand account.

No way is it an hour - especially now as there is a new road open from 192 south that will enable you to get to 27 and hit it at Florence Villa Grove Road at the entrance to Lake Davenport Estates which is just south of Davenport Lakes ands north of Hampton Lakes .There are several options to get to the parks area from this area now and in the hopefully very near future when they have finished surfacing the west end Funie Steed road you will be able to get to the Formosa Gardens area and beyond to Entry Point -which is opposite Sherberth -without going on the 192 at all.
If you want a map of these roads just ask.

When we go out we leave her in the house. She just relaxes and sleeps on the couch. That's why we rent homes, so we don't have to board her in a kennel. She's very well-behaved and we've stayed at homes and hotels with her and she loves it!

If we took 192, it took us around 15 minutes to reach Disney property. If we took Sherberth Road (which leads you right to the Animal Kingdom area) it took no more than 5! It was a gorgeous community that was far enough from the hustle and bustle to be relaxing, and close enough to be a very short drive :thumbsup2

We have a Shih Tzu, too! They're such couch potato dogs and are so content to sleep all day! :lmao: I would love to be able to take our Shih Tzu with us and come home to him after a few hours at the parks!

Our Shih Tzu is only 1 year old and he likes to sleep, sleep, sleep. I think it's a breed specific thing, not an age thing with them. :cloud9:

Actually from some areas of Davenport it could easily take an hour during peak seasons to get from the rental to the MK, even taking all of the available short cuts. Under ideal situations the closest Davenport home is still a full ten minutes to the AK Parking lot, 20 minutes to the TTC.

From the 429 ramp/192 intersection to the AK parking lot is almost exactly four miles. There are at least five traffic lights between those two points, timed so that you will need to stop for at least two of them. It's a 45 mph speed lmit from the 429 ramp to Sherbeth, then the speed limit drops to 35, and goes back up to 40 mph once you turn onto Osceola Parkway.

From some areas of Davenport I agree it can be a long journey as Davenport is a very big area but the communities in question are very close to the 192 /27 junction and in the 9 years I have been doing the trips I haven't taken any longer than 25 mins to get to the parks area and that is going all along 192-unless there had been an accident causing problems. The new road I am talking about is not the 429 -although you can take that road into the west entrance to Disney but Westside Boulevard which runs parallel to the 27 so it cuts out part of the 192 .I am in the area next month so am looking forward to seeing how the Funie Steed Road is progressing and what that makes the journey like .

Gosh I live in Davenport, closer to Champions Gate and it is 12 miles to WDW. It takes 15 mins and there is no traffic. You can jump onto I-4 off 27 and be there in no time.

Maybe some of those new roads are the construction people have been talking about....sounds like they're done or almost done....I'm not coming until January.

I would love the map, thanks!
