Interesting observation !

I found a great FAN rate for a Bay View room - 2 queen beds - for my dates. The price was $254 (4 people).

Reservation - I filled out all information for date, guest, etc. and put in the "FAN" code like before when I found the rate. I saw a slot for the Loews member number and thinking that I might get perks, I added that number also. Imagine my surprise when the room came up with a $344 rate! I thought I had lost the FAN rate, so I tried it again making sure I had the same dates. Still $344! I went back and took the Loews member number off and clicked. $254 came back up.
Not that I care, but I found it very curious that the rate would change by putting in a member number that should be part of a reservation. Some people may not realize this when they are rate hunting. We don't care for getting Loews points or our special check-in package (which by the way I have read where that is very spotty anyway).
Just thought this important information for others. ;)

I've run into this too!! As soon as you enter your Loews First #, the price jumps sky high!! For the past couple of reservations, I have made it online without my Loews #, then I add it to the reservation when I'm checking in. Or I suppose I could call it in ahead of time & have it added to my reservation.......

I guess we need to watch for this when making other reservations such as Hilton, Wyndham and others.

I am glad you said something! I will have to make sure to check the difference in my rates when I make my next ressie. I don't care about the Member perks if the rate is a lot higher! Thanks for the heads up!

The same thing happens when I rent a car from Budget. It's cheaper without the Fastbreak number.

I just called Loew's a few days ago when I noticed the same thing when I tried to get AAA rates. The very understanding reservationist explained that discount rates, group rates, and promo offers do not count as Loews First qualifying stays. It has always said this in the fine print but I guess they are taking it more seriously. She still gave the the impression that you would still get your benefits when you showed your card but the stay wouldn't count towards gold or platinum status.
I was still happy with the qualifying rate of $191 at the HRH upgraded to a Deluxe room (we are Loew's gold) as opposed to the AAA rate of $179 for a standard. We are going for 2 nights of HHN on 10/13-10/15.
For those that find these rates still high, have you seen WDW Beach and Yacht Club rates lately? :-)

I thought Loews considered AAA a "qualifying rate" ?  In fact, that was the ONLY discounted rate that they honored as qualifying. Did that just change?

I was wrong. about AAA. The rate I received was the AAA rate for a standard room. I was upgraded to a deluxe at no extra charge but we were originally quoted $179 for Florida resident rates and that rate wouldn't of counted towards Loews first status.
Sorry for the confusion.
