OK I didn't know where else to post this but I thought it would be cool to start a post on At Worlds End for whoever saw the move with comments and questions and obviously spoilers since anyone who enters this post should/will have seen this movie...
I'll go first :)
First, I loved the audio from the ride when they go over the waterfall.
Secondly, did Jacks father look like the pirate from the ride.. you know, the part that Barbosa now replaced? I think it did exactly!!
I didn't really like the huge Tia Dalma, but overall I loved this movie....
I loved the part when the pearl was moving because of the crabs and Jack was running after it... That was funny...
Also, I need to see this movie again, because it was really confusing!!

I posted this on another thread when someone said they were confused about the whole Calypso thing.

I saw it on Thursday and didn't get a lot of it. I actually didn't even try because I knew it was going to be complicated and just wanted to enjoy the movie for what it was...

then I saw it again today and totally understood ALMOST all of it...I think! So for anyone else confused about Calypso, here is what I got...

In a nutshell...Calypso is a goddess of the sea who had a love affair with Davey Jones. She gave him the job of transporting the dead to the other side, which he did for ten years. (Not sure why she gave him that job?) When the ten years were up and he was to have his day on land to be with her, she was a no show, so that's when he started controlling the ocean and not doing his job anymore, taking dead men as part of his crew. He then had the nine pirate lords bind her into human form and they've both been miserable ever since. THAT is why Tia Dalma brought back Barbossa from the dead and went with them to rescue Jack, because she needed him to get the nine pirate lords together to undbind her.

I felt like that was the reason for the scene after the credits too...to show that, unilke Calypso, Elizabeth shows up for Will's one day on land and Will will continue to do his job and not end up like Davey Jones. pirate:

What did Calypso say when she was big? I could not for the life of my understand what she was saying.

I enjoyed it. I was glad that they tied up loose ends, but also left it open for future sequels too.

And I am SO glad that they brought back Barbosa! I think he's my secocnd favorite, after Jack, of course.

Did anyone else notice when they were hanging the kid at the beginning(the one with the coin), that he had BRACES on?! My son and I both noticed that. They were either the clear ones, or they used something to change the color. Kind of ruined the scene for me.

I have not seen POC or POC2(yes, I know that is a mortal sin), but the movie was still a good one to me. They had a guy dressed as Jack Sparrow taking tickets at out theater, but he was a joke! All the teenage girls started screaming when Johnny Depp came on the screen, LOL.

I was trying to figure out how people were confused with the movie, but I think I get it now. I grew up in a predominatly Greek community and was familiar with Calypso from Greek Mythology. I had heard through "Pirates rumors" prior to the movie being released that the potential for Calypso to be a part of the movie was there.

Anyway, I loved the movie. The funny thing is everyone keeps talking about the actual audio clip that is in the movie, but no one has mentioned Barbosa's qoute. Barbosa says the line from the ride speil just before you go down the waterfall hill "...There be rough waters ahead...etc", then they go over the waterfall in the movie and the actual ride audio kicks in... Hubby smacked me and started laughing when Barbosa started the whole thing.

I had a hard time understanding the dialouge in the beginning, I think it was just the accents, but hey gives me a good reason to go see it again (not that I need a reason). But I think the thing that upset me most was that they killed Norington. I was really rooting for him. Of course not "for" Elizabeth, but just in general, he seemed like he really meant well, he just kept ending up with the wrong people. That was sad. And then there was the fact that when you left Dead Man's Chest you knew there was another one in production and leaving At World's End you can only hope that there will be another.

Anyway, loved the movie, can't wait to see it again... pirate:

thanx i was kinda confused about the whole calypso thing

but anyhow i thought the movie was INCREDIBLE adn AWESOME movie

my favorite part would have to without a doubt the part where Captain Jack and Davy Jones were fightin up on the flag post in the final battle and all the waves and the wind and the ship was leaning in the big whirpool that right there was the best part of the whole movie and a reason alone to see this movie

the ending too was awesome how it left it open for a possible fourth movie
all in all I LOVED IT A GREAT MOVIE :)

OK I know in Dead Man's Chest there were a few different special clips shown after the credits, three in total I believe, I'm wondering if there is only one clip or a few this time around. I see above someone posted about Elizabeth waiting for Will, this is the one I saw, anyone have a different one?

We had figured out that Tia Dalma was Davy Jone's "girl" persay and that she was Calypso long before seeing the movie. I do admit there were a few sections I couldn't hear clearly, I'll be seeing it again soon. I also had to make a nature call during the meeting with the Pirate Lords, so I need to go back to see this again as well.

I'm hoping for a 4th movie I think they certainly left it open for more with the whole Fountain of Youth thing.

I don't think it's in English. I was really paying attention the second time to try to figure it out. (I have a hard time understanding her a lot of the time.) Really, it sounds like she just screams something indecipherable.

This was by far (in my opinion) the best movie! DH & I saw it yesterday afternoon. We went to a 3:15 showing and it was packed (but we got there about 45 minutes before it started). After the movie the audience all started to clap. Most left when the credits started but I kept DH in his seat. He thought I was nuts untill he saw the last scene. We saw the one with Elizabeth & the child waitng for Will.

I loved all the scenes, but I thnk my favorites were of when they had the multiple Jacks. They were hilarious I thought! Just cracked me up!

I had a hard time understanding anyone in Part 2 but didn't have a problem in #3. Except for Tia Dalma - I've had a hard time understanding her.

A couple of other favorite parts: popcorn::

Loved the part of Jack and Keith Richards when Jack asked how "mum" was. :lmao:

Loved Will & Elizabeth's "wedding" with Barbosa performing the "ceremony".

Loved it when they got on the ship and everyone drew guns on each other. That was funny!

and Loved the fight scene of Davey Jones & Jack. That was cool!

(Hated the part of them killing Will). :sad1:

I really hope they do come up wth a #4. Dh said he thinks they will since at the end everyone seemed to be headed for the fountain of youth.

PS: thanks for the explaination of Calypso. That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Thanks for clarifying that!

Tia Dalma (Calypso) being Davey's lady was evident in POTC II. She had the identical heart with claws pendant/music box that Davey also owned.

Also, in POTC II, Bootstrap gave Will his dagger. Will held it up and promised his father that he would would use it to stab the heart of Davey Jones. (not those exact words)
Here's my question: **Color changed in case you do not want the spoiler - highlight to view**
When Jack Sparrow used Will's hand to stab the heart of Davey Jones in POTC III, why didn't the script call for him to use that dagger? True, Bootstrap used it after Will's death to replace Davey's heart, but I think the consistency of the storyline would have been nice.
Other thoughts?

Just why did Lord Beckett say, "Finally" when they started singing in the first scene? I feel silly asking because I have a feeling I will have to give myself a "dope slap" for asking, but it has been driving me looney all day.

I think that he knew about the pirate lords and the pieces of eight and knew that once they started singing, that meant that they would all be summoned to come together. And then later when Barbossa told Sao Feng that the pirate lords need to come together he threw him the coin and it was almost as if he was listening to it and Barbossa said, "The song has been sung."

Thank you, Nikki! If it was another language, that makes me feel better. I was worried she was saying something important to the plot.

And really, I thought she'd have more of a role in the final fight, other than just causing the storm/maelstrom.

I guess I'm the odd man out, I wasn't as thrilled with this movie as the last two. There were parts that were really funny or gorgeous (the ship sailing through the icy cliffs or the stars reflecting on the water) but I felt like the story line was too complicated and forced. I hated the ending! I guess I just like happy endings.

re: What Calypso said when she was big.
Someone over on imdb said that in the book version (which is apparently "not worth the trees") she says "fools". :confused3 I couldn't understand what the heck she was saying in that scene either though lol, just passing along info! :)

At one point, Sao Feng referred to Elizabeth as Calypso. It made me think that throughout the movie that she would replace Tia Dalma as Calypso and that Will would replace Davey Jones.

Somehow, I figured they (Will & Elizabeth) could be together under this arrangement, or that as Calypso she would have the power to release Will and her father from their fates.

Also, DH and I have a disagreement. How did Elizabeth's father die? DH says Lord Cutler had him killed. I said that Lord Cutler showed him the contents of the chest with Davy Jones' heart and asked him to stab it, and by doing so sealed his own fate. I do remember seeing Elizabeth's father looking at the contents of the chest.

I loved this movie! I did not stick around for the last seen but now I will need to go back and see it! I never knew they did that for these movies. Now I feel gipped. lol.

I am so glad I found this thread. I just saw the movie this afternoon and (even though Im going to see it again) some things have been confusing me. You would think that they would be able to explain the Calypso/Davy Jones story line better given that the movie was 3hrs...but anyways, after reading some posts, I understand most of their story. However...what was the deal with the green light? Does it signify when a soul is returning from the beyond? I read elsewhere that during the scene after the credits, the green light flashes and Will returns and is free from his curse. Even though he still remains capt of the Dutchman, his soul is now free....is any of this making sense to anyone or is there something that I didnt understand??:)

I'd have to agree with your DH on this one. Becket had him killed after they showed him the heart. He said once he knows enough, there is no more use for him.

I don't think it means he's free from the curse...just that he came back for that one day. pirate:

Saw the movie early today and LOVED it!! I really think its the best of the 3!

And yes parts were confusing, but in the end you get the whole jist of the thing its not that bad.

My favorite part is when Jack is in the Locker and there are like 20 of him just strolling around fighting with one another - that was so hilarious!! And then when there's the little angel and devil Jack hanging by his hair!!

IMHO I never thought Will was very hot until this movie - once he became Capt of the Dutchman and he had on that bandana and his chest was showing - yeah that was really hott!! (Tho Capt jack has my heart forever!)

popcorn::

Can't wait to get back to see it again!
