Warming formula

I've never taken a very little one to stay at a WDW resort. How have you heated formula? In all of our stays, I can't remember a time when we've been conveniently close to a food court (microwave).

You can buy an inexpensive electric bottle warmer at any Wal-Mart, Target, or Babies-R-Us type place.

If you are using the plastic bottles, buy a small 4 cup coffee maker, heat the water through that then fill half and half with the heated water and room temp water.

You can either have the ready to feed at room temp, or use room temp water and powder.
I've never given my kids warmed formula, and never had to worry about a way to warm it when we were out.

They have those smaller 'fondu' type crock pots at many stores like wal-mart, target ,etc. like a crockpot but smaller. You can use that to heat water and warm the bottle in there.

I've worked in daycare for many years and we always used crockpots to heat bottles as opposed to a microwave. This is just a smaller version of that. Easy to travel with.

I was at work one day at Rafikis planet watch when a woman with a special needs child HAD to warm the formula or the child wouldn't drink it. She asked a kind CM who helped her by using the CM break room Microwave.

I am not sure that you would be able to do this in just any situation....but we at Rafikis are a super nice bunch of folks. I would think that most of the restaurants would be able to accomodate you too.

You just have to ASK. We are all trained to help the guests. (requests would have to be reasonable of course)

Hope this helps.

P.S. I think the mini crockpot for room warming sounds like a great idea too.

I've taken two infants to WDW- the first child had her formula warmed and the second usually drank room temp. formula. Here's what I did- I used powder formula, put the powder in dry bottles, and used water from the parks. The water in most fountains is cold, so I'd fill it 3/4 full and then ask for warm/hot water at the counter serv. restaurants- they usually gave me water from the coffee pot- hence very hot. The cold water from the fountain offset this hot water and we had warm water every time. I found that very few places had warm water- either cold or hot. The baby care stations probably do, but we were never near one at feeding time. Good luck and have fun!!!

When ever we were out we asked for a large cup (like the last poster) of hot water from any restaraunt. I always walked up with a bottle and people know why. Just let it sit in the hot water until it is warm. You can also run it under the hot water tap in the hotel sink. Some places offered to microwave it for me but I was worried about it getting too hot so I always said the water would be fine. ;)

My SIL gives my niece room temp formula all the time. She keeps bottles of water in her diaper bag and has a little plastic canister thing that she can measure the amount of formula for a bottle into, then just dump in when needed. It's divided so, there is enough in one container for tow bottles.

I nurse, but everytime I need babyfood warmed at a restaurant, I ask for a cup of hot water. Drop the babyfood or in your case bottle in and it'll warm.

Depending on where you stay there might be coffeemakers in the room too you can use to get hot water to put it in.

for use in the room-a diaper wipe warmer is small, compact and rolls into practicly nothing ( a cheap heating pad works well also-and you can have more flexability in setting the heat level) it also will hold 2 bottles and several jars at a time. just set it at it's highest setting. for a bottle, if it's powdered-bring a small thermose which you can pour heated bottled water into prior to leaving the hotel (use their microwave), for liquid-pour it into the bottle and ask for a cm at one of the restaurants to run it under a hot water spigot for you.

the baby care centers do have bottle warmers as well.

I second the small thermos of hot water. I used to take a thermos wherever we went, shopping, zoo, museums, etc. When my kids decided they were hungry, they didn't want to wait for me to find a microwave or stand in a line to get hot water. I just filled the thermos with hot water and brought it along with some bottles with powdered formula already premeasured in them. I poured water into the bottle (bring a small funnel along), shook the bottle and instant warm bottle!! When you think about the amount of stuff you already carry around when you have a baby, a few extra items is not a big deal, especially if you have a stroller, which I am assuming you will.

Speaking of formula, I have 4 coupons for Similac worth $5 each. If someone uses that brand I'd be happy to mail them to you. We use Nestle Good Start so I don't need them.

Happily we are hoping to be all done with formula before going to Disney.

If you want the coupons, just pm me with your mailing address.

We didn't either, but it was relayed to us by CM's that they just don't care. They know ABBF, and that it's a convenience to the guest for warming baby formula, cereal, etc. It really came in handy.

HTH!

If you put hot water in the bottles before you leave the room, and put the bottles in a small cool bag, then the water will stay warm all day. Just add the powder at the last minute.
Even better if you can get your baby to drink it at room temp.

I haven't read all the posts, so this may be info. you already have.

Formula doesn't have to be heated, unless you have a child who won't drink cold formula; there is no nutrtritional/health reasons to warming formula. If you do have the warm formula child, I'd go with ready to serve or using powdered formula making it with warm water as you need it. You can premeasure it into bottles or use a formula divider. Your other option is to put a bottle in warm/hot water using a large cup or something similiar. You can also fill up a thermos with hot water from a coffee pot or a microwave to take to the parks. They also sell bottle warmers; most need to plugged into some type of charger, but I recently remmber seeeing one or reading about one that does not. Sorry I can't remember where.

What you should NEVER do is put a bottle in a microwave. It heats unevenly and has hot pockets which could burn your child--it wouldn't show when testing.
