WARM gloves that don't break the bank?

My teenage son has very cold hands. He's still playing outdoor soccer for a little while longer and will also need warmer gloves for winter. Any suggestions? He'd prefer them not to be the big poofy ski-style gloves since he will be wearing them to play soccer as well. Waterproof/resistant would be an added bonus since last night he practiced in the 40 degree weather with rain.

So does anybody have any thinner, very warm gloves that you know work? I go to the stores or online and it's overwhelming with all the choices and who knows if they're truly warm or not?

try one of these. I know they are running gloves but they will do exactly what he needs them to do. Some even look to have grip on the inside.

Those running gloves do look good, but I'd probably have to go in and touch them. We bought him a pair of running gloves that seemed to work, but now that it's much colder, they seem too thin.

An average person would be fine with them, most likely, but since his hands are so cold he really needs something more. If they were fleece lined, he'd probably be good.

Thanks for the suggestions though. I'll pop up to Dick's Sporting Goods today and see what they have.

Dicks sporting goods has the Under Armour gloves, they are very warm because they're made out of the same material the shirts and pants are made out of. You need to make sure that you pick up a pair that are the ColdGear line and NOT the liners. I use them for fishing, and they keep my hand very warm.

my hands are extremely cold and I live in Minnesota so I have been looking for nice warm gloves for a long time. Nothing seemed to work UNTIL....I found a pair of North Face gloves! They are the best thing and they keep my hands/fingers nice and warm. They are "thin" gloves so it surprises me they keep my hands so warm.

Cheap they are not. They cost me $30. Never in my life would I thought I would have spent $30 for a pair of gloves, but it is SO worth every penny!

My son has the same problem (cold hands) I brought him a pair of UnderArmor gloves for $25 and he hasn't complained.

So I think these are one of those times you get what you pay for.

I was at Marshalls yesterday and they had gradahoe & marmot gloves. Both companies are awesome. I purchased a couple pairs for my husband they were either $15 or $17. I already wrapped them so I can't give you any more details.

My mom was with me and said the grandahoe (I am spelling that wrong) gloves sold at Macy's last year for $65 and sold out when they went on a $39.99 special.

When I go hunting, I use scuba gloves/ice fishing gloves. i've been in temps down below zero and never gotten cold while still maintaining dexterity

$30 IMHO are budget! I was thinking I'd have to shell out $100 or more for decent gloves.

I'm going to check out the NorthFace and Under Armour gloves. (I figure it's cheaper than moving to FL!)

My daughter who runs outdoor track also winter LOVES these and never complains about her hands being cold, they are very thing, but also have little gripies on them.

Yeah my son plays club soccer as well, but since it's so cold up here in Indiana, we move indoors starting soon until early March. Even in March we have a chance of snow and we will be playing tournaments up here and practices regardless of weather.

These gloves look promising as well. We went to Dick's and I didn't find anything I loved. One pair of gloves, by Seirus, said they were the warmest blah blah blah, but when I looked them up on Amazon, they don't have good reviews.

So I'm basically back to where I started. Mississippi weather for soccer looks really good right about now!!! I'll check out the Nike ones. Thanks for the tip.

You might try buying some silk glove liners for the ones that he already has; they are very thin but add a LOT of warmth. You can get them at Amazon or at wintersilks.com

My son used to play club soccer and we had to buy him some decent gloves too.

Can't remember what kind, but we also bought a case of hand warmers and he could put one in each glove.
