We had orginally planned the next trip for April 2006 but bumped it up to Dec. 2005. I was wondering is it still warm enough for swimming as DDs love to be in the pool. I would hate to go there and it be too chilly! I would rather wait until April!

i think the weather is so subject to change that time of year, but we were there in january and we went swimming. it felt chilly when you got out of the pool, but the water was SO WARM! they keep the pools really well heated. Our neighbors were there 2 years ago for new years and it was in the 80's. i think unless you live somewhere where it is warm, it will be nice enough for a child to still enjoy the pool! have a great time!!

December/January and Feburary can be hit or miss. We've been and had 80 degree days, and we've been where the high was in the low 60s. To a certain extent, it depends on where you are from - with heated pools and coming from 20 degree weather, we Minnesotans, Canadians and Michiganers will swim as long as we don't have to hack a hole in the ice.

The Walt Disney World Resort pools are all heated. We go over NYE every year and always swim. My DD is a fish! Sometimes we were the only people in the pool :). It can be chilly when you get out, but warm enough in the water.

Several christmas weeks in the past it went down to freezing. My uncle lives 1 hour wouth of WDW and his thermometer read 24 in the morning one year. That didn't stop the kids from swimming though. Usually as soon as the sun comes up it warms up rapidly. Nancy

This past December, we absoloutely froze 3/5 days we were there. However....we still swam every day! We hit the regular pool first for a bit, then headed over to the hot tub. Yes, we were the only ones crazy enough to be in our suits outside at night, but it was well worth it. The hot tubs are really big and I have found that they aren't nearly as hot as the ones I was used to. The kids had fun swimming around and the bench seat inside the tub was perfect for my smaller one who can't swim yet. The only thing is that next time I will pack robes for everyone, once you get out, look out! It's sooooo cold!

We were there in early Dec (12/3-12/11) and very fortunate to have BEAUTIFUL weather (high 70s/low 80s). We swam everyday, but then again, we're from New York State, and our kids would have gone swimming in 60 degree weather... :sunny:

Exactly :). I think we Northerners swim when it's cold, but the Southerners know better :cold:.

the heated pools really help with swimming even if it is chilly outside. The only thing I would recommend is nice thick and long terry cloth robes to bundle the little ones in as soon as they get out of the pool because that is going to be when you feel the cold.

I think I read that usually at least one water park is open over the holidays. We are going in Dec. and had not even considered a water part trip, but now I'm wondering.... Do people go to the Disney water parks in the winter?

Two years ago Christmas week we were hot and sweaty most days in the parks but cool and comfy in the evenings. This past Christmas we were buying mittens and hats and tucking beach towels around my youngest as he slept in the stroller.

December in the south is hit or miss. Of course even with it cold I find myself arguing with my kids over why they can't join the blue and shivering kids in the pool! ;)

Last December we absolutely froze!! We definately did not go swimming. We were in hats, gloves, sweatshirts and jackets. :cold: We have been going for Christmas and New Years for the past 3 years and the weather can be too cold to swim one week but the next week it would be lovely. :flower:

Dec 25 2004 - Jan 1 -2005 we were swimming at POR. Pools were heated and 2 days it was chilly. Xmas was raining and the 26th was cold but we went swimming anyways.
