Wednesday 28th December.
Oh, it is always so sad to wake up and realise it is going home day.
After packing and checking out, we caught the bus to the park for the last time and put our cases in Guest Storage. We popped into Salon Mickey again for cookies and drinks. We were later reaching the parks today and it was now about 11am. The snow was coming down much heavier than yesterday and the park was far more crowded.
Yes, youve guessed it, we headed straight to Big Thunder Mountain to collect fastpasses!
The standard queue was now at 50 minutes wait, during the day we saw it rise to nearly 2 hours. Now however much I love BTM, there is no way I would ever queue that long for a ride!
We went over to the Studios for lunch in the hope that it might be a bit quieter there. We were in luck and easily managed to get seats in the Backlot Express. The theming in here is great and the food wasnt bad either! After lunch we walked up to the umbrella in the hope Chip and Dale would appear and yet again we were lucky. It must certainly have been our lucky day because when they went back inside to warm up, the White Witch of Narnia appeared and deigned to have her photo taken with DDs.
On our way out of the Studios, Santa Goofy was performing with the Swing Alongs again and shortly afterwards we were lucky enough to have our photo taken with him.
Then Sully appeared, which was brilliant, because we had never met him before, either at DLRP or WDW.
Then we hit the shops for the very last time, treating ourselves to an ornament of Sleeping Beauty Castle and another of Sorcerer Mickey. We justified this by saying they were our Christmas presents!
Then it was time to collect our cases and make our way down to the station. The train left on time and although it was 20 minutes late getting into Waterloo, luckily our train to Bournemouth was also late and we managed to catch it by the skin of our teeth. Because of railworks, our train was rerouted but the journey only took an extra 40 minutes and we were home and tucked up in bed by about half past midnight.
So ends our first ever Disney Christmas and this has to be my best Christmas ever.
Would we do it again? Yes, most definitely, but maybe not for a while, the whole experience was so magical and wonderful that I would worry that to repeat it too soon would somehow take the shine off this trip.
Maybe in a few years time .
Roll on August, our next trip to DLRP!!!
