North Korea says UN sanctions imposed after its nuclear bomb test are a declaration of war, state media says.

Pyongyang also warned of "merciless" blows against any country infringing on its sovereignty, the official KCNA news agency reported.

There are reports of new activity at last week's test site, and South Korea and Japan say they have intelligence of a possible second test.

The US says air samples have confirmed the 9 October blast was nuclear.

I have to say that I saw Diane Sawyer this am (Good Morning America, I was running really late!!!) and it was so creepy to see her footage of North Korea. Maybe it was early am or something as I missed some of the broadcast trying to get ready for work. But there was only 1 flight at the airport, very few cars on the street, the town looked empty!

Unfortunatly I can remember this guy saying this type thing for over 10 years now, I never know how serious we should take him.

Unfortunatly I can remember this guy saying this type thing for over 10 years now, I never know how serious we should take him.

I think the entire world was hoping that Kim would die by now and we wouldn't have to deal with something like this. Much touchier situation than Iraq. There was never a question of our easily defeating Iraq's military and capturing Saddam. And he didn't have nukes.

North Korea is a very, very difficult sitation diplomatically and militarily. Much of it hinges on China. We can defeat North Korea easily enough (in military terms, that is - it would still probably involve many thousands of allied casualties) but we can't defeat China easily if at all. Everything hinges on how Beijing reacts to everything.
