War? What would it take to make you cancel your plans?

As it appears we are headed for war I am guessing that crowds are going to be somewhat diminished at WDW. I generally feel safer in our small town than being in heavily populated areas. We are scheduled to go to WDW during the Easter holiday (obviously large crowds are expected). I don't want fear to run my life so we continue to make plans. But at what point would you reconsider your plans. If the nation was on high alert? If there is an attack on US soil? I just don't want to put my children at an unnecessary risk.

We are going in May including a cruise, it would take something very big for us to cancel. I feel safe here in Chicago so why not at the happiest place on earth :)
Unless its closed we are going!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I am booked to go the first 2 weeks of May. I have a couple more hotels to book for a short trip to Sarasota and have my PS to make at the MK. If I could drive to WDW I would go no matter what was happening, almost. There would have to have been numerous terrorist attacks on landmarks and hotels and such to stop me from being there. BUT since I live in California and am terrified of flying anyway that is where I am having trouble. I really want to support the travel industriy and not cancel my plans. The airlines need business and I want to help. I am just pretending that nothing is happening and am going on with my plans.

Going everywhere no matter what - We refuse to give in to terrorism. I don't know what's worse the terrorists or the gov't dealing out fear. We are definately not afraid of anything, and there is nothing that will put off or cancel our plans. I do not mind flying, and I feel completely safe on an airplane.

Personally I think this is all a big bunch of C$@P. I have more faith in our military to defend and protect, and in Airline secuirty and sky Marshalls than the "terrorism alert" color system.
Talk about a way to instill fear & paranoia and also kill the economy to boot. That's the main reason why the economy is in such a slump - fear, Nothing good comes of it.
By the way I live 20 miles from NYC and on 9/11 the "emergency alert system" that tests all the time never ever came on. I cant think of a bigger emergency than 9/11. So to that end---
I choose to live my life inspite of what the war mongers say. The govt will tell you to go, enjoy, spend---- but, by the way buy canned goods, duct tape, water.....I think they should all go P!$$ up a rope.

Life is WAY too short.

See you on vacation and having a great time too:bounce:

If its my time to meet my maker, I would rather be shaking Mickey's hand with a smile on my face, then sitting on my living room couch worried if something was going to happen.
I refuse to live life as they want us too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if the parks were closed, we'd still get in to see our favorite attractions! Ever see the movie, "Vacation"??? :) ;) :)

The only time my family canceled a trip to WDW was when we, our country, was attacked on 9/11 - we canceled our trip, and donated the airline tickets to (The American Red Cross) someone in need of traveling from FLA to BDL to visit or identify a loved one.

We live in NYC, we had a view of the WTC from our home. Nothing I can think of would keep me from vacation. I'm sure there is something, but I can't think of it.

We continue to see threads of this sort under Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies. I for one, keep hoping they will fall to back pages and someone keeps reviving them or starting them over again. If you are really interested, go to the community board and go back as far as you care to. Hostmasters seem to be moving them there. There are dozens of threads regarding this depresssing topic. They all say pretty much the same things.

The only reason I would cancel is if they cancelled all flights. As a single parent (Jim- SO is NOT into WDW) I don't feel comfortable driving from Texas to WDW. I hate driving anyway/ anywhere :)

I agree with pintrader... I come to the "Trip Planning Forums" for fun... not to be depressed beyond belief.

Please make a forum for all of these types of threads (even the community board is too happy a place), that way, when those of us who don't want to be depressed go to the "happy" forums, we don't even have to scan the depressing titles!

Hi needabrk, welcome to the DIS. I'm really glad you found us.

If our country was invaded I might consider cancelling my trip.

I'm going to move this over to our community board for you.

it would take a lot. i wold probably only cancel if i physically was unable to get there.

Gee, I didn't mean to depress anybody. (How can you depress someone named eeyore?) I don't want to debate war or terrorism. But I know that it will likely impact people's travel plans. My own dad is concerned about us making the trip, but we're still planning on going. I can't wait. It was meant to be a simple question reguarding making such trip plans in view of this major world event. I'm sorry if it disturbs anyone, but I was curious where others would draw the line on trip plans.

Everything would need to be closed down for me to cancel!

I can only think of cancelling if they were an attack on US soil. Other than that move outa' my way because I'm coming through!!
