me and my husband have decided to get rid of our bundle package from our cable service provider. we are almost never home. my son is in school from 8:30-4:10 then they play outside (most days) till dark. or they watch netflix or play their video games. im usually online. i watch a few shows but right now one of my shows season just ended and wont be back on till Oct. even then i can always get online and watch it the next day. so no biggie. so im looking for only an internet service provider. something pretty cheap. around $50 or so a month. i dont need a phone cause both me and my husband have a prepaid cell. if we cut out this and pay $50 a month for internet then we will be saving $130 a month! i need something good enough so we can stream netflix.

i use charter for my internet.
its 40. 00 a month. I use it for my hulu plus, streaming.

look into free standing dsl.. we have earthlink and do not have a home phone. I'm not sure of the price since its just taken right out of our account.. I know its less then 50$ a month though. Its not as fast as our cable dsl was but they raised our rates to almost 80$ a month with out a bundle!

We just did this and actually stuck with our cable provider. We looked into Frontier and Charter and some of those other companies (Verizon doesn't offer Fios here) and the reviews are just too up and down. Comcast has an economy internet that was 39 a month (we already own our modem, so no rental fees) and even though they cut down our "speed" there has been no difference in playing xbox live or streaming movies.

Have you looked into a Roku? We got this and can stream Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and a bunch of other services. The video quality is great as long as you have a decent internet connection. I highly recommend getting Amazon Prime - you get free shipping on a lot of stuff at Amazon, and you get a ton of online shows available for streaming. Well worth the annual fee. I think we paid $75 as a one time purchase for the Roku device, and then Amazon Prime was $69 for the whole year. There are a ton of movies and TV shows available.

We have it plugged into our TV in the family room and you get high quality HD video on the TV.

What is available in your area?

Where I live I have a choice of ONE service provider, Time Warner Cable.

We can't get FIOS or DSL here.

So, you need to know your choices before anyone can give you recommendations.

I use AT&T for just internet...28.00 per month, and we like our netflix streaming too.:thumbsup2
