Wanting to do Universal during our Disney trip...how?

We are looking to spend a week in Jan at Disney.

I have an 11 yo ds who is Harry Potter crazed. He really, really wants to spend some time at Universal during our trip.

If we are staying on Disney property, what are our options for getting ds and Dh to Universal and back for a day?

I believe there is transportation you can arrange (Mears, I think) that will pick you up at your resort, or you can take a cab or rent a car.

If there is any way you can, stay a night in a Universal hotel. You get early entry to the Harry Potter area (1 hour before the general public) and front of the line to most of the rest of the rides. Or, if you can't do that, think about purchasing the Express Pass.
