We are thinking about doing the Wantilan Luau at the Royal Pacific Resort this summer. Has anyone been to this luau and if you have, what was it like and how did you book? Before you got to Orlando or while you were there?

Hi, Nick,
We did the luau last year at the RPR.
My hubbie, and 2 daughters 6&7 and me of course.
We booked directly with the hotel when we arranged our accomadation which we again did directly (will work out a lot cheaper)
Im afraid I can't quite remember the exact time that it started, but we lined up and was greeted by 2 of the Dancers where we were all given lay's Photo oppourtunity and then we were seated.
We were very lucky as we were right in the front and had fab views.
The only thing I will say is that there is no cover so I don't know what would happen if it rained, and also if you had little one's there was no shade and boy was it hot, not complaining though.
Our waitress was really friendly and brought us drink's on a regular basis, mai tah's beer, soft drinks were all included in the price and they were more than happy to bring them.
We were then told to go and help ourself to the buffet, which consisted of, for the children, pizza, chicken tenders, peanutbutter and jelly sandwich's bread and the good old macc cheese.
For us bigger people there was suckling pig, a variety of salads, Rice, Im afraid Im a bit fuzzy about it all There was another station where desserts were , cheesecakes, choc cakes, fruit, and then coffe and tea.
The way they worked this was that as soon as you got in had your drink you could go up, so there was a constant flow as people were arriving all the time.
If i can suggest getting up As soon as they say as you will get the food when it's at it's best.
Then the show begins, and it was brilliant,

I don't know what happened there, but Iv'e more !!!!!
The main guy in the band was really funny and had a really good banter with us poor unexpecting souls.
There was a bit of audience participation, a bit of history about the dances, dancers etc, and it was just a really nice evening.
I think it finished around 9 ish, not as long as we first thought, but long enough.
We all enjoyed the evening, and Im glad we did it, I don't think I would do it again though.
The food was O.k. My 2 daughters enjoyed the show but ate nothing, typically fussy eaters.
I would reccomend it for the luau alone, Hubbie enjoyed food ,but he will eat anything.
All the staff were wonderfull, couldn't do enough for us, infact My youngest took a likeing to one of the waiters lay's which was much bigger and brighter than her's He overheard her saying she liked it so he gave it to her.
I know there probably 10 a penny, but he didn't have to and it made her day.
Go have fun, you will enjoy, The Suckling pig was lovely.

Sorry It's so long

It sounds like a good event!

Did you just add the luau onto your room booking then? Do you (or anyone else) know if it's possible to pay for the luau before you travel??

Nick, you can phone the RPH and ask them that you want to book the luau, they will put you through to the right depatment where you can then book I think it was done on the same lines of PSeating, they take your card details but don't take the amount untill the night, but like most of them if you don't show you will be charged.
I will check with my husband later as he is a night worker and e-mail you later just to make sure the info is right.
