HI everyone!

I'll be on my own for lunch next Friday. Breakfast will be at the Kona Cafe and dinner will be at Biergarten (for both of those meals I'll be with friends).

I'd like to hear to hear about your favorite snacks, counter service meals, or even appetizers at a sit-down in or near the Magic Kingdom. I don't think I'll be very hungry at lunch time but I thought this would be a great chance to try something different that I haven't thought of before. Maybe I'll finally try a turkey leg? lol

Thanks! :)

P.S. My only requirements are: no mushrooms and no seafood! Thanks!

One of my favorite light lunches at MK is to grab an eggroll from the cart by Tiki Birds, then follow that with a Dole whip float. Those two items just go well together.

But I seem to remember someone saying the eggroll cart is gone - so don't know if this is do-able of not.

The other thing I like is to become a kid again - and grab a carton of corndog nuggets from Casey's!

how about the afternoon tea at grand floridian?

tea sandwiches, scones, pastries and tea

quiet and relaxing, too

just enough to fill you up

Thanks for the replies so far! :)

I probably should've listed the other places I'll be dining at during this trip:

Planet Hollywood (dinner)
Garden Grill (lunch)
50's Prime Time (lunch)
Plaza (lunch)
Kona Cafe (breakfast)
Biergarten (dinner)
Liberty Tree (lunch)
Flame Tree (dinner)

Normally the Plaza would be a great place for a light lunch but we'll be having lunch there earlier in the week :)

A Dole Whip is high on my list of snacks... I just need something with a little protein to round out the meal.

a hot dog at caseys! how much more "main street usa" can you get? or perhaps a nice little sandwich from the main street bakery? or maybe a nice relaxing lunch at columbia harbor house (be sure to get a table upstairs)? of course, you could always go to pecos bills and enjoy all the fixin's on their amazing fixin's bar! although turkey leg and dole whip sound like a fabulous combination to me! :)

I can think of several options, all of which I've done. I had 2 appetizers, soup and salad, at LTT. I've eaten upstairs at CHH (can't remember what I ate, but it's nice and quiet upstairs). If you're looking for a light counter serve, how about Figaro Fries at Pinocchio Village Haus. Lots of people aren't aware that they have a small balcony that's really nice for a solo. I've gone up there, taken my shoes off, put my feet up, sipped lemonade, and watched down below. I don't usually go to Pecos Bills solo, because sometimes it's hard to find seating and as a solo, I've got no one to "send ahead" to grab a table. I do like taking the boat over to Captain Cook's at the Polynesian and having their Polynesian salad (although I think it's wierd that it's in a cardboard box). It's a nice quiet change at lunchtime.

Figaro fries at Pinocchio's. I'd suggest Kona Cafe, but you're already eating breakfast there. CHH is good too. How about LTT?

My vote goes to Casey's too!

Terry, I just noticed you're going to POR!! Oh my gosh, thats our first home.:) , before joining DVC. LOVE that place. Is this your first time there? You're going to love it!! Just make sure you try and get close to the food court and main bldg, this resort is huge, I suggest bldgs 14 or 15 (15's our favorite, a very short walk to the bus stop). We're staying there for 3 nights next April before going over to the BCV's for a week, just to go "back home" for awhile. The pool slide is a blast! Can you come back with a review on the food court for me, they just finished a renovation. You've got to have a piece of their yummy chocolate cake for me, k? Have fun!!!

ooh, i had another thought... if you're having a late-ish dinner, have your dole-whip mid-day and then grab a hot dog at casey's and head to the train station to watch the 3pm parade! :)

Cosmic Ray's is another good choice for Solo dining. Sunny Eclipse can be entertaining and there are lots of good protein choices :)

I guess it depends on which land you're in when you feel hungry for lunch!
Here are my suggestions:

Egg roll and blackberry or peach iced tea from Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station (if they're open)

Half sandwich and cup of soup at Columbia Harbor House (the Lighthouse sandwich is very good)

Chicken caesar salad w/ the smoothie of the day at Tony's

Hot Dog from Casey's with a lemonade

Pineapple float or a regular Dole Whip.....so refreshing!

Or how about an ice cream cookie sandwich from Main Street Bake Shop?

I don't know if you were serious or not about the turkey leg, but my family hated them!! My DH and 2 sons would usually never say no to meat but once was more than enough for them.
Have a great trip! Hope you'll post your dining reports when you return.:)

Thanks for the great ideas, everyone! Everything sounds really good, wish I had time to have them all. lol

Out of all of the suggestions, the only thing I've had already is the hot dog at Casey's. It was really good and I'd definitely go there again.

Deborah: All of those sound great! Where I happen to be at the time just may play into when I end up getting. lol

I've seen pictures of the Figaro Fries...they look SO good... I'd love to try them. Is it a ton of food, or more of a snack portion??? If I go there, I'll have to remember about the balcony, thanks for that tip! :)

Jillpie: Yes, this will be my first time at POR, I'm really looking forward to it. We've requested the Alligator Bayou section, so we'll see if we get it or not. :) I'll try and remember to take pictures of the food court and the food offerings. I'll give my food reviews when I get back!

Terry - have fun
DS & I are staying 2 nights at Riverside before switching to 5 nights at BCV this August
Was going to suggest LTT for lunch but know you already have it planned

Dont forget your dole whip!
