What's a favorite off-site one? Prefer to stay $20 or below. Naturally, lower than that is great! Want American food, such as, yummy crispy bacon (don't allow myself the luxury of the fat from bacon when at home, so want to enjoy!), eggs of all kinds, pancakes or waffles, biscuits & gravy.

Or, if such is not available, is there a local family spot that serves great & generous sized old fashioned breakfast at a reasonable price?

Thanks.

Shoney's is just down the street from DTD exit. Take a left at the light off Hotel Blvd and it is on your left about a block away. They have a big bfst buffet with all the junk bfst foods.
I have never had the bfst at Sweet Tomatoes but they just started a bfst buffet. Maybe someone knows what they serve there.

1) A bunch of us retired guys do Golden Coral for breakfast.
2) Our once-per-week breakfast is pretty good.
3) Their spread is far more comprehensive than Shoneys.
. . . lots of breakfast buffet items
. . . omlet station
. . . waffle station
. . . desserts
. . . fruits
. . . cereals
. . . pastry
4) Plus, it is $8.01 after tax for old guys.

NOTE: If you see a bunch of old dude wearing red ROMEO hats, stop and say hello. (Real Old Men Eating Out)

We think Golden Corrall has a pretty good breakfast and it is under 10.00!

I agree. We don't care for their later meals (at this particular location in Lake Buena Vista), but we really do like their breakfasts. There are lots of coupon books around that generally have coupons off too. We've eaten here lots of times.

The Shoney's was also good, and we enjoyed it although we've only eaten there once.

We also love Cracker Barrel (on 192) and Perkins (in LBV at the Crossroads). There's also a good Bob Evans restaurant near the intersection of 535 and 192. We've eaten there several times too.

I also have to add that Boma's buffet (at AKL) is about $20 a person, and we LOVED it! If you have a reservation, you just give your reservation number to the guy at the gate, and you won't have to pay to park. I already have my reservation there just before Christmas! :)

Another Golden Corral vote...

Other options..

Bob Evans
Perkins(not a huge fan though)
Shoneys
Cracker Barrel

Golden Corral....we don't have one close to us, so I can't wait to have breakfast there everyday during my vacation in a week. :cool1:

I'm curious why you would have to pay to park at AKL? We have never had to pay to park at Animal Kingdom Lodge where Boma is located. Their food is really yummy!!

Thank you for so many good suggestions. We've eaten lunch at the Golden Corral in LBV & liked it & plan to visit for lunch again. $8 for a good breakfast buffet is a real good thing! Is breakfast every day or only weekends?

Also, "ROMEO" (love that!), since you are a breakfast regular, what is the best time to go - early or late breakfast? Don't know if we will be able to avoid the weekend; hope we'll be lucky enough to go during the working week. What day does the ROMEO gang appear at GC breakfast? If we are there when you are, we will certainly stop by for a chat! Is this gang a full- time-living in the area group or a snowbird group? We used to snowbird in the LBV area in our RV at Sherwood Forest.

Now, THE MOST important question - is the bacon at Golden Corral crunchy? I only like well done bacon & I'm really looking forward to my one time bacon-thing celebration!

Re: Boma - what do they have that is so good? Isn't it mostly African food? I'm really looking forward to a good ole American artery clogging event!

Thanks again everyone. Julie

Not a buffet (of course)--but we are HUGE fans of Cracker Barrell. It is actually a regular part of our road trips.

Compared to a buffet--the only thing I miss i the fresh fruit. We feed 2 Adults and 3 children for under $40 (as long as we don't go and order the apple cider or anything...that'll push it over a smidge).

You can get a feast for under $10 pp.

And they are extremely "old fashioned southern cookin'" kind of breakfast....

Biscuits and gravy
Ham
BACON
Fried apples
Yummy pancakes
Darn good french toast.

They have combination platters to accomodate all sorts of taste buds.

I added that because often when the subject comes up of eating at an onsite hotel people ask about having to pay to park. I was trying to to preempt the question. :)

Every day.

I can't remember, and I particularly prefer crunchy bacon.

Believe me, I don't have one ounce of imaginative eating in my body (give me plain old American food), but I loved Boma. They had lots of standard fare with some other interesting things thrown in, and we LOVED the juice (had it at Kona too).

Boma has sliced pork and another sliced meat. They have made or order omlets, I think they had bacon and sausage. They had wonderful pastries and they were little so you can try them all and eat more of the ones you like best. I do not like African food and they had a lot that I would eat. They had a lot more American food than African food. I don 't remember everything but those were my highlights.
