Hi all!

We are taking a Disney Cruise....... DH and I still have 3 more days off and I figure... why waste them, right?? ....................We will be traveling with our 2 year old son. My question is, based on your experience, which resort would YOU take your two year old to? We don't plan to go into any parks... we'll hang around the hotel, visit others and do all of the "other" things that Disney has to offer.

I appreciate any help!! :)

I would take your two year old to Animal Kingdom Lodge and get a savanna view. My two year old a year later still says she wants to go to Animal Kingdom and see the animals. She spent every morning running to the balcony to see the animals. She ate her breakfast out there and I did her hair as she happily sat still.

AKL is a great suggestion. The kiddie play area at the Paddock pool at SSR is really nice for little ones too. We stayed there last year when my twins were not quite 3, they love, love, loved the Paddock pool kids play area. Wanted to go to the pool every day. :). Easy peasy to get to DTD for dining & entertainment from SSR.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards App, please excuse any typos or autocorrects!

I would choose one of the following:

BC/YC for best pool on property, restaurants and boardwalk activities
Art of Animation for themed rooms and pool area/splash zone and excellent food court
AKL - Jambo for numerous kids activities at both Kidani and Jambo, animals and pool
Fort Wilderness for playground, pool, Chip n' Dale campfire, animals, bikes

Hope you have a great cruise vacation!

Kate:thumbsup2

Since this is a DVC forum, I will assume you are asking about DVC resorts. I think it kind of depends on when you are traveling and what your 2yo likes to do. If it will be in the winter, then swimming may not be an options, so focusing on the pools may be not be important.

If it will be warm weather in Orlando, then I agree with others who recommend Kidani. The pool and splash area are great for 2-3 year olds. The little ones love seeing the animals. The restaurants at Kidani and Jambo are some of the best on property. When you are at Kidani and Jambo, you don't even feel like you are at WDW with the amazing theming of those resorts. Kidani would definitely be my first choice.

I would not recommend BLT, since the pool area is just ho-hum and I personally could not be that close to MK and not be able to go into the park! Although, you could sit in an elevator lobby for hours with your son and watch monorails go by!

The Epcot area resorts may offer more for you and DH from the standpoint of dining and entertainment, but, in my experience, that is not usually a consideration when traveling with a toddler. I have read good things about the pools at SSR, but have not stayed there in years. It is close to DTD, which might give you something else to do in the afternoon or evening.

Enjoy your trip!

Thank you so much! It will definitely be warm out so pools will be perfect! I really appreciate all of your help... I think he will love AKL!

When mine were that age we stayed many times in the Cabins at Ft Wilderness. Great exploring/running around areas plus pools , bike rentals, golf cart rentals, Campfire sing-a-longs. Just a boat ride away from MK :thumbsup2 Cannot go wrong there.

To be clear... I am looking for a DVC Villa. BUT...we are going to Fort Wilderness next weekend. 2nd time this year! We love it!

Try OKW.

Big villas. Quiet. Playgrounds. Quiet pool. Superfast slide at main pool. If you like long walks, there is a great walk to Downtown Disney and you can take a boat back.

And low points.

Another vote for Beach club...the sand pool is amazing when my kids were small.

I would go to SSR or BCV. They both have play areas for little kids to play in the water. BCV has a shallow area where little ones can play in the sand and water like at the beach w/o the waves. But SSR is easier to get a room.

I can not speak to AKV as I have never stayed there.

with a toddler, and no parks, absolutely, positively AKV

BCV has a fun, but very crowded pool (harder to keep track of very little ones), and i wouldn't recommend any resort near a park (seeing fireworks, ppl coming/going to parks, might make the temptation too much).

I would go to one of the DVCs with a splash area. So, SSR which has the most splash areas, AKV Kidani or BLT. BWV does have a small kids area by the clown pool, so that would be a choice for me too.

No matter where you stay, you can get over to AKV to see the animals. It could be an outing since you aren't going to a park.

If it helps, I have barely 2yo and a 4yo and we are doing a split stay at SSR (for the 3 baby-friendly splash areas) and BLT (for MK proximity). I do agree AK might have the most to do outside the parks.

We traveled with 3 toddlers in February and stayed at SSR (treehouse villas). All of the kids LOVED the pools/splash areas, the boat to DTD, DTD restaurants (Rainforest and T-Rex), and the surrey bikes around the resort. We can not wait to stay at this resort again!
