Hi everyone!
Today is our 12th wedding anniversary, and my husband just surprised me with Tickets to Orlando. (I love that man!) We are flying in on the 4th of Sept until the 12th of Sept. Unfortunately he decided to leave all the planning to me however he did organize for his parents to watch the kids while we are gone so no complaints here.

I have less than two months to organize my trip. I was thinking we would go to POFQ for The first half of our trip then switch to a deluxe resort. I have been to the Polynesian resort in the past but want to try a new one. We are on a budget so looking for a more affordable option.

I checked prices and can afford A few nights at any of these resorts AKL, Yatch Club, BCV BLT or WL. I am leaning towards YC because it is right next to Epcot and has the Stromalong bay but would like some feedback.

Which would you choose and why?

Happy Anniversary and WTG to your husband for the surprise tickets, that's awesome! :) We stayed at WL last May (2015) for our Anniversary and loved it! We were on the 5th floor with a pool/bay view and it was amazing! We could see the fireworks at MK and see the water parade on the bay each evening. The resort is beautiful and quiet (not sure if they are doing renovations now or not but you should check on that) and we loved taking the boat to MK or to the Contemporary for the monorail.

For an adults trip, the Yacht Club is a great choice. There are so many things to do in the evenings between wandering through the World Showcase, walking the Boardwalk, or just relaxing at the pool. Nothing beats floating on the lazy river after a long day at the parks.

I also enjoyed AKL - it's so peaceful there in the evenings! I loved sitting out by the fire pit.

Wilderness lodge is experiencing a lot of construction right now. I'd wait to stay there after it's done.

I have not stayed at the BCV or BLT - but I'd probably save those for when the kids come with us. I'd want the hotel services/amenities for an adults only trip.

YC is a great choice especially for adults. Can't beat walking to Epcot and The Boardwalk. And a boat ride to DHS.
Love SAB, I use a pool noodle to float around the lazy river.
If you can, book a garden view. Not much more than standard. Maybe $10/night extra and worth it. Some standard views at YC & BC are truly awful.

Congratulations! Thanks to the DIS, I got a quote for an agency exclusive "magical deal" with one of the agencies often recommended on these boards. It extremely discounted compared to Disney's direct rates.

Try it- you could stay deluxe the whole trip!

We did this last year. Wasnt much more than the moderate i booked
We stayed at the YC, my favorite resort

Why? Close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios
The Boardwalk
The pool

Wow, thanks everyone. Such great advise. I think I will try for the YC. Sound like it will be perfect for an adult only vacation. Will check out the agency route too. Thanks

Another vote for YC. It's quieter than BC, plus all the rooms have a full balcony. Also, it's so nice to be able to walk to/from Epcot. :cloud9:

I think all of the Epcot resorts would be a great choice. I'd check into renting DVC points though, as you could save a considerable amount of money, maybe even enough to stay deluxe the whole trip.

I wish I could rent but it seems to all be booked. Too last minute so I have to go through disney

A split stay between POFQ and YC/BC would be my dream. Unfortunately, we are a family of 5 now so the dream is not likely to become a reality.

YC gets my vote too, it's my favorite resort on Disney property, hands down. I have recently been doing split trips between moderates and Swan/Dolphin. You might look into that and with their discounts and lower prices you might be able to stay there the entire time instead of a split. They don't have ME so you would have to pay for a shuttle to the resort and they add on a silly $20/night resort fee but often that still brings them in equal to a moderate. Also, if your tickets can be switched you might want to go a week later for F&W at Epcot, just a thought.

Ok guys, I just wanted to update you. I went ahead and followed the advise given here on DIS and was able to nab an amazing Labour Day deal with the travel agency mentioned by the two post below. I finally ended up going with the Polynesian. It was so worth it for the price we paid. I got 7 nights at the Poly with a five day park hopper and bonus tickets for one of the Disney Water Parks all for $2,273. :woohoo:

I was going to choose BC (YC was not available in the deal) but decided to go with a monorail resort because we are planing on going to MNSSHP and want to go eat at many of the signature restaurants found at GF and CR. It was a super hard decision since I really wanted to try a new resort, more specifically an Epcot Resort but my husband thought the Poly would be more romantic for our anniversary trip. Plus he really likes the idea of grabbing drinks at Trader's Sam in the evening and watching fireworks on the beach! Hard to argue with that!

Anyway, it is all booked and I already started my dinner reservation. So excited.

I wanted to thank everyone for their input and suggestions. I would have never found these great deal without the DIS. :disrocks:
I guess we'll just have to wait to go to the BC or YC on our next trip with the kids. :wave2:

Awe thanks so much. I was also afraid that I would not get what I wanted but I guess luck was on my side! Wish I could have done a split stay with Poly and YC but with the deal I got I had to stick to one resort to keep the same price. Oh well I just will have to organize another trip with the family at a future time.

First off - Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! pixiedust:

The POFQ sounds like a great start. Very romantic too. :thumbsup2

I'm the biggest WL fan there is... :rotfl:
So my first reccomendation would be WL Concierge. No question about that. And you can strike a very good deal there too for the club level rooms.

But if on a budget and still want to make it nice and magic... The Yacht Club is the best choice. Hands down! :smickey:

It's beautiful, close to Epcot and The Boardwalk too. :earsboy:
And just a quick boat ride to The Studios! :boat:

:tinker:
