Want To Know About Sci-Fi, Whispering Canyon, Ect.

I was looking at pictures of the sci-fi dine in theater. Its looks like it might be kinda fun for me. Has anyone been there?

Just dont know whats the best choices for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or AK. My husband is a hearty eater. With his trucking occupation, he's used to eating truck stop food with the buffet. I was looking for something fun or satisfying more than romantic. My hubby isnt the gushy romantic type. I think he might like the 50's prime time since he likes older things like old drive in theaters and old westerns.

I haven't been yet either. But I've found some really good reviews from people who've just been. My DH is worried too that all we'll get is fair food, you know corn dogs and pizza. We haven't done in years, but we remember the burgers and fries being good and our kids loved sitting in the "drive-in movie cars" and watching the repeated film clips. Prime Time is fun too...and they also had good food. Magic Kingdom doesn't have as many sit downs, but we enjoy Crystal Palace for breakfast (a buffet with Pooh and friends) with really good puffed french toast. Epcot, of course, has LeCellier, Biergarten (German food buffet with good beer and a live band). We have not tried any of the sit downs at AK, but are trying Yak & Yeti this year. Also, your hubby would probably enjoy Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge and Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We have lunch at the Sci-Fi and breakfast at Whispering Canyon on every trip. Sci-Fi is our last day ritual, and we eat lunch there before leaving for the airport.

The skillet breakfast at Whispering Canyon is the best deal on property. All you can eat for $12.99 (drinks are extra). A couple of times I've even gotten the bottomless milkshake with breakfast.

My family are meat and potatoe eaters. they are excellent meals for the price and it's all food they will eat. My husband loves the meatloaf at prime time cafe and it is a must on every trip. the kids love how we get yelled at for not keeping our elbows off the table there too.

Thanks for the feedback. I will add those to my favorites. I also saw in another thread that 'Trails End' in the Wilderness Lodge was a great place to have dinner buffet. I checked it out and it does look like a place that my husband might also enjoy.

We just got back and ate at both Whispering Canyon and Sci-Fi. We didn't order the skillet meal, but we saw it on other tables and it looked great! The skillet meal is "all you can eat" too, so there's plenty of food! We just didn't want or need that much food. I had the shrimp and DH had the chicken and we both enjoyed them. What was so great was the fun atmosphere! Hard to explain without ruining the fun, but let's just say that dinner was "audience/dining patrons participation"! Our kids had a blast. One thing I do want to note-we ate there last Sunday evening, and we had an ADR for 6:15pm. We were seated about 6:45pm, and they were very busy. Once we were seated, our service was fine.

Sci Fi was also very fun and another hit with our kids (ages 9, 5 1/2, and 4 BTW). The food was good, nothing fancy (hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, etc.), but we liked it. The atmosphere of sitting in a drive-in watching cheesy 50's horror movies was what we all liked so much. We sat in the cars with the 5 1/2 year old in the front-we told her she was going to drive us around, and she thought that was great!

The food was good at both of these places, but to be very honest, we're not "foodies", meaning, as long as it tastes good, we're happy! What sold us was the atmosphere in both places. And our kids were really sold on both, so that means we'll definitely be going back! ADR's for these places during the busy seasons are necessary, as I heard podium CM's say that they were not seating walk-ups on the night and day we were there.

I suggest you give Biergarten at Epcot a try. Plenty of hearty food, great entertainment, and a great beer selection. On our last trip, everyone from DD5 to DH loved it although DH rated it as a favorite.

We also ate at Sci-Fi for lunch. I think it's a place worth visiting at least once. I recommend the milkshakes and burgers.

We love the Sci-Fi and the kids love the movies the food is pretty good. As for the buffet at Fort Wilderness it is wonderful comfort food that is one of our favorites. We are also crazy about Teppan Edo in Epcot. Good luck

I am a 100% meat and Potatos guy who loves a hearty meal, but was REALLY dissappointed with Wispering Canyon Cafe. The skillet just wasnt that good. I wouldnt go back. Sci-Fi is great fun though..

Loved both! We stayed at WL last time, so we ate at Whispering Canyon quite a few times for different meals, and family loved them all!

We did Sci-Fi 2 years ago and it was good. It's a fun atmosphere. The only thing is that if you're there for more than 30-45 minutes, the movie clips play over and over and over and over. It's fun, but I wish they would add enough clips that you didn't repeat so much. We saw the same things at least 4 times while we ate. It's really just for fun though and I think your hubby would get a kick out of it at least once!!

50's Prime Time Diner is really fun IF you get a good server. We had the BEST server 2 years ago and it was a blast. The same cannot be said about our last trip though. We just had a regular meal with no "hoop la". It was kinda disappointing watching the other tables have so much fun as we just kinda sat there without any interaction.

Whispering Canyon cafe is nicely decorated and the food was good. They yelled "ketchup" a lot, but other than that, again, no real interaction with our table. Your hubby would probably like the food here though and the Lodge is really fun to look at.

If you're looking for a huge amount of food I recommend O'Hana for dinner. We have some big eaters in our group and they were astounded at the massive amounts of food that kept coming to the table.
