wenpop - Congratulations to you and your son. You must be so proud. I think you'll hit eleven events before you know it. By the way, which ship are you going on? I'm a cruise-a-holic. Don't have anything booked now, but will probably be on the open seas in the Spring.

Lisa - While I've been to the parks several times, I've never been on a Disney cruise :sad2: -usually go RCL or Princess. I'd love to go to Castaway Cay (sp) sometime. As far as the 12 step program, don't let my husband in on it if you find one. I'm sure he'd like to find me a program. Me, I want to stay addicted. :rotfl2:

If you haven't already taken it, on the Stayingconnected homepage under Surveys, there is a survey for "Consumer Connectors". This survey asks questions about which type of events would like to see, hours, what would make your event more successful (coupons, samples were options) etc...

Everytime I log onto StayingConnected......I want to put a hairnet & gloves on that girl. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Show the new employees what they REALLY are going to look like. lol

And I would LOVE to know how someone gets a store manager to write a comment about you with such detail as if you were a full time employee of the store & they've worked directly with you for YEARS so you could win $500.

I barely see a manager walking by me if I'm lucky ( except for my 1 Target store). Most times they are signing the paper & asking what they are signing & what did I do.

LOL- no kiddingl. My favorite demo manager always comes to find me and she just writes "great job" or "awesome job." Maybe I can get her to expand:)

For all you Cruise-aholics could you all give us newbies Cruise 101 class. All this cruise talk got me to thinking, I want to go cruising now:cool1:

Just looked at Disney Cruiseline site and for the prices for the size of our family that won't be happening for a great while:scared: but any other tips or suggestion for booking a nice, affordable cruise?

One of the reasons I haven’t been on DCL is because of costs. While I’m sure they have a “premier” product, I just can’t justify it on a cruise when I can get a similar experience at half the cost. The “biggie“ which most of us with kids can’t do, is go during the “off” season. Going on older, smaller ships can also save you money. Booking 8-12 months in advance can usually get you cheaper rate especially if you need a cabin for 4. While I haven’t been on NCL, I’ve read they have pretty competitive rates. Royal Caribbean’s prices are the same no matter what TA you book with. The last couple of years, I’ve found good pricing with Princess. Once you decide on a date & itinerary, you can use Cruise Compete to have TA’s compete for your business. If I can help in any other way, PM me.

We are going to go on the Carnival Glory Cruise in December.. It's a western carribean... All 6 of us are going for less than $4000.... I think that is a good deal... But of course we have to drive, get a hotel, and pay for food along the way... But I guess it is still worth it... Since I could be just staying home and not working... But since I am working I guess I should spend the money on something special......
Thought about Disney, but just a little too much for me.....

I know, I know it's SO expensive! But OH SO WORTH IT!!! DCL only has 2 ships (as of now!) not 20 or more like other cruise lines so they can't sell the space dirt cheap!

Why else would we be planning our 5th Disney Cruise!
The memories we have are just priceless and believe me, we are not wealthy (that's why we don't get to cruise every year) and it takes me FOREVER to save for our cruises because I refuse to go if I can't pay cash for it!:thumbsup2 That is why I'm working these "event" jobs in addition to my "real" job!;)

I would love to go Disney but with 6 people in our family that would take me a lot longer to save for and this trip I want to take before we all have to have pass ports... Maybe when me 2 older kids go off to college I can afford to take my 2 boys on a disney cruise.. If they are not too old by then..... i think for 6 people it was over $6,200.... And that is just for inside cabins...
On the Glory we are getting one balcony and one inside for $4,000..... So right now I have to go for price... I would love Disney... But just not right now....
I also like to pay with cash, I just need to book 11 more events!! Come on!!
I have to work a total of 20..... :) Today is the first one!!
Have a great day!!

Wait, I thought you already had to have a passport to cruise, are you sure??? You dont want to wait on that last minute.

You do not have to have one to CRUISE until Jan. of 2008. BUT if you are in port and had an emergency, say someone back home was ill or worse yet, died, you will not be flying home w/out a passport!:sad2:
And it's taking F O R E V E R to get them so start early!:thumbsup2

Oh Ok, i guess they keep changing the time line on these things, yes when i had dbf get one last year, it took not itme at all, well actually w/e the normal time was but now i hear people its been taking up to like 3 months and then some. Luckily i think mine is goos for another 3-4 years so by then hopefully all will be back to the normal wait..lol

But yes I agree I wouldnt leave the country without one, you just never know what can happen even on a cruise!

The "no passport till 1/08" only applies to a CRUISE. If you are flying of course, you need one now!:thumbsup2

Exactly. The four of us along with two of my DH's sisters and husbands went on a 10day cruise out of FLL in March. On day 4, my SIL broke her ankle in St. Lucia and had to go to the hospital there. :sad1: Due to her medical situation, they couldn't board the ship that day and had to stay in St. Lucia for two more days and fly home. Luckily, they had passports. Unfortunately, they didn't have travel insurance. Now that's another story.

Does anyone have any events booked for July? When would have they put up next month's events in your area?

Wow!! A 10 day cruise with NO insurance?:scared: I figure if I'm spending the money for the cruise, I can certainly afford a bit more for insurance! Just worth the piece of mind!
:)

Nothing for July listed here either.

A week ago I had nothing past June 17th, but on Thursday jobs for the 24th and 30th were posted. So hopefully there will be jobs popping up within days! Fingers crossed!

Compared to last year, they have been slow putting jobs up. I remember booking them right at the 2 month mark.
