I tried to get a burger from all star sports and was unable to get it without the fries and coleslaw. When I went to the cashier they had to charge the full price (about 12 bucks) for the burger. I understand they can charge whatever they want and it's up to me so I left the burger.

I didn't have an issue getting just the burger in any of the parks and when I escalated the issue to the manager of the the sports food court I was told that "the system wont allow for them to just sell the burger". I'm not upset, just confused. Anyone encounter an issue like this before?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum please feel free to move it to dining if that's where it belongs.

If the cash register has a button that says "burger" and charges 12$ because it comes with fries and slaw, I'm not sure what else they could do. It's not likely that they are actually typing in prices to the cash register. They can only sell what they have buttons for and that is dictated by the software. If they punched it in as something else that has a lower price, that would skew their inventory.

Thank you for moving the post.

Well I was thinking the software could be wrong and needed to be changed. I get that the cashier doesn't have the power or care to get it changed. I can also imagine that the manager doesn't either. I just thought it was odd. I have never been to a fast food restaurant anywhere that only sold combos. I would think Disney would be willing to sell me just the burger rather than nothing. I might be wrong though. perhaps taking a few bucks off would still make it a $10 fast food burger and Disney has decided that's no good and chose to convey value in a 12 dollar combo instead or whoever programs the buttons overlooked it.

depends on the system, if there is not button for just a burger there is no way even the manger could change it. the park most likely uses a different system if they can do that. you can only ring what is on screen ie per set price for combo not the parts of combo separately

I find it very strange that their cash registers don't have the ability to manually type in an order, with all the special diet orders & complaints/deductions they must face on a daily basis. In true Disney style, I would also think they would have compensated in some way, if the issue was just an issue with being rung up.

the special diet is probably a tab as they are most likely one price. complaint/refund would be for one of items/tab not putting amount back. can only do what is on screen/tabs and each place can have different tabs. which is why some places can do ala cart and others can not

But why not just offer the customer a small drink or snack or a small credit to use later to make up for the few dollars of sides that they didn't take with their burger? Another poster claimed they were charged less for their burger, so there must be an idea of how much less its worth charging. Not trying to start an entitlement thread, but I know that its common for WDW when a manager gets involved to offer a small token to smooth things over. Maybe it differs, depending on which manager you get?

I want to add that when I saved the $3 for the burger without fries, I posted a picture on a Disney Facebook group.

Someone chimed in, that they tried this at DHS and were told that it was not possible.

A few minutes later another member of the Facebook group chimed in that they were a Cast Member who worked at the very QS where the other person was refused. The cast member said that the person should not have been refused. That the ability to remove sides is part of the program, but that some cast members simply do not know how to do it.

was able to get a burger without fries at resorts and parks??? do not remember exactly how much less it was but it was less. they ring it up as the meal and minus the side.
