My opinion is that if you want VMK to stick around, don't waste time with company management who have already made their minds up. (I'm very sure this wasn't a spur-of-the-moment decision... hours of business meetings go into things like this.)
Go to the press. There's not much that the Disney Company fears more than negative-sounding press. Cutting costs is important to management. But, preserving the positive image of the Disney brand is even more important to them. I suggest we take that angle. And there's no better place than the press. Major newspapers, major news outlets (especially non-ABC ones!), online blogs, things like that.
The Virtual Magic Kingdom was one of the only online places where kids can have fun in a fairly sterile environment... and one where anyone can join, whether they have money to actually go to the parks or not. Thousands of kids depended on VMK as a safe place to go online. And now the Disney organization is closing those virtual doors, leaving kids all across the globe with no safe place to laugh and play and learn together.
