Well, I have been hard at work doing a Heritage Album for hubby's Grandma for her 85th birthday.

It's a bit different from my other albums. I purposely tried to make it shabbier, messier than my usual style. I also chose one font (well more or less  ) for the whole album.

There's also a story to go with this album....if you don't wanna read about it then you can just go straight to the album....just click on the Cass World link below, then SB'ing then Heritage Album...

here's the story..

(grandma's 85th birthday...August 25th...keep that in mind)

August 17th...

Hubby: "Baby....do you think you can HELP me scrapbook a birthday card for grandma??"

Cass: "Ummm sure sweets...just write down what you want it to say and I will see what I can do."

Hubby: "Well, I have a few ideas for the card..."

Cass:" okay...here's a pen & paper, write down your ideas."

*Cass waits patiently for about 15 mins while hubby scribbles on notepad*

Hubby: "Here ya go!"

Cass:  "Ummm...hun....this isn't a CARD.....this is a SCRAPBOOK!"

Hubby: "Oh...hmmm...do ya mind??? :p

*Cass looks at the calendar and GULPS really loudly* then yells to hubby: "Get me some pictures!!!!!"

...Two days later with a few layouts done without pictures...I realize I do NOT have the pictures I need to do this SB!! So we call grandma and tell her that her b-day gift will be late! Oh and by the way, can you send us some pictures???

So two weeks later, having hubby's parents make a trip to grandmas in Saskatchewan ...(read ALASKA for you American folks :)) to grab two boxes of photos...we plop down and go through the pictures with hubby's family.

long story even longer...

I just finished this yesterday!!!

Let me know what ya think!

I haven't been around for a long while and just started lurking again a few days ago. This is a beautiful scrapbook. It has given me some wonderful ideas. I really should make something like this for my mom. Thanks for sharing.

Cass- The album is great. You spent a ton of time on it and it shows. I too know what an undertaking it is because I just did an album for my Grandma's 85th birthday on July 4th of this year. I enjoyed looking at how you showed the changes in her life and focused on some of the same ones I did.

I decided in May to send out letters to everyone in the family and have them send me pictures and letters. I gave a due date of June 15th and of course, most of it came then or right afterwards!!! Then off I went to work on it, mostly at night after my family went to sleep and then every weekend until the day I gave it to her. My grandma was thrilled. She still thanks me every time I talk to her and she loves to show off the album to her friends. I learned a lot of information about my grandma and both of my brothers and cousins thanked me for doing this too.

Thanks for sharing!!!

Kristina

mikki & OurDogCisco,

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, I wish my mom was still around so I could do something like this for her. She died in 1997, 3 years before I ever even started scrapping...I think she would have been proud of me though.

bunnymkc,

Thanks! You are too sweet! Actually, the family hasn't even seen it yet, just Hubby has. He is going to get together with his family tonight for coffee and he's gonna bring the SB with him to show it to them before we send it to Grandma. I hope she likes it...I know that some people are just not SB people. Some people that have seen my albums just flip through it so fast....and I'm like...ack..that took me 2 hours to do and it took you 1.3 seconds to look at it

oh well, hubby is greatful that I did it and that's all that counts ;)

Cass- you ROCK! What a great gift for grandma...if my grandma was still alive I know I would love to give her a scrapbook too. You album is beautiful and I know she and other family members will love it.

Cass, thanks for sending me the email to check here. I haven't been around much either.

It's AWESOME! She's going to love it. I wouldn't expect anything less than GREAT from you. :) I love all the old things on the pages to look at besides the photos.

Maybe, just maybe, you've inspired me once again. ;)

Keep up the great work.....and how many days is it now till WDW?! :teeth:

Have a great time if I don't talk to you before you go. Say HI to Mickey for me. :)

Wow, you guys are so great! You are always there to support me and to share your kind words with me! I am so glad I found this board, not only for the beginning of my SB life but for all of you that post on this board!

*BIG HUGE GROUP (BOARD) HUG*

Oh and Splsh...I have 20 more days now...I am gonna start counting the minutes soon LOL...no worries, I will definitely email you before I go!

Cass ,
great job as usual. I love the title letters and the journaling. Did you use stamping on some of them ?
Cyndi

That is a wonderful album and you can tell it was made with love. It is pretty different than your usual style, but it looks just as wonderful as your other albums! I know she will love it!

You do good work, kid! (That's what my husband says sometimes when he's looking through our albums)

Oh Cass,

That is beautiful. I'm sure she will love and treasure it.

Wonderful album! Thanks as always for sharing!

Your website is so much fun to look at!!!

The Heritage scrapbook is beautiful! I've never done one, but I must say you've certainly inspired me!! I really like the "primitive/shabby" look - while it might not be your norm - it's definately my style!!:p

Thank you for sharing it!

Pam

you did sich a nice job. I think it is so beautiful. I am going to steel a few of your ideas. hope you dont mind.

Wow, What amazing work! I have to say I even got a bit teary eyed....what an absolute TREASURE! ...I laughed when I saw the
"growing pains" and then the pictures of the kids! Too cute.

Thank you so much for sharing your work of art with us...it is truly inspiring!

Oh, and have a GREAT time on your trip too!

Lisa

Thanks again guys, it was my first attempt at a Heritage Album and I was kinda worried about getting the right look cus I know my style is more clean cut and simple than what I had hoped to do for the album.

Cyndi,

Yes, I dabbled in a little stamping, even tho I am not much of a stamping kinda girl. I wanted an alphabet stamp kit but they didn't have the one I wanted when I went shopping so I settled for another one...I used it on the second layout (birth announcement) for the "25th" and "it's a" and on a few other pages.

For most of the titles, what I did was picked a font (CaslonAnt T) then I typed the alphabet (several times) in MS Word and then printed it on beige cardstock. So for the most part, when I needed a title, I just cut out the letters that I needed! It was also a lot faster than going downstairs to my puter and typing and printing everytime I did a new layout.

Lisa,
Thanks! I am so looking forward to this trip!!! We are spending 9 days in Orlando first, then we are driving to Miami for a 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise on RCCL and then driving back to Orlando for 2 more days! We are celebrating our 5th Wedding Anniversary on the 17th by seeing Cirque du Soleil for the first time and we are also doing MNSSHP for the first time ever! PLUS...this will be my first trip to Disney with a DIGITAL camera :):):)...I am SET...lol...I have FOUR 256 MB CF cards plus we will be downloading then onto CD at Walgreens

So...if anyone needs a specific picture taken at WDW for them...just let me know :p

Oh, Cass, your grandma's album is just beautiful. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes (not a good thing when you're at work), wishing my grandmothers were still alive so I could do the same thing for them. I had to chuckle when I got to the page that says "crazy" and it looks like she's wearing wigs or costumes. I think she's probably my kind of woman. Give her a hug for me, will you? I'm sure she's a special lady, as are you for making this album for her . . . and your hubbie for thinking of it in the first place. Grandma Polly will treasure it forever, I'm sure.

Pat

72 days and counting . . . again!

Your album is Incredible!!! I hope that i can do one that nice, some day.
