Hey momma!

My DF's twin brother has one and he uses it all the time! We are planning to buy one when we move in a few months.

Sorry to get OT, but do you have Rock Band?? Now, THAT is a cool game!

:rotfl2: aww, you just have to practice and you'll get better! Seriously, I got hooked on it last week. We went to Alabama to visit some friends & go to a few concerts & our friends just got a Wii w/Rockband.

Our "band" consisted of: my DF (has played guitar for over 10 years), his BFF (plays drums as a hobby), his BFF's GF (plays a zillion video games so shes good with the controllers), and me (can play a total of 1 song on my banjo! )
After we got into it for a while, I was able to handle the bass and guitar on easy mode but the drums are just ridiculously impossible! A little tip I learned though:
if you guys own the microphone-choose that one if you are playing it with your family. The game is EXTREMELY lenient on ability to sing & get the right pitch.

Anyways, sorry to get OT on your thread:rolleyes1 I'm gonna try the Wii Fit the next time we head over to DF's bro's place. I can see it being a great way to relax when people are stressed out trying to get their weddings in order:thumbsup2

nah you were completely on topic.. it's a video game thread lol. rockband makes you work up a sweat too kinda lol!

Wii Fit is awesome,

We bought it the day it came out and 3 times a week I do the step one (have it unlocked so it is just steping for 800 steps.) for about 30 minutes.. I have noticed that it is making my legs stronger, just need to add in some arm motions and everything will be great! :rotfl:

It truly is an awesome product, I recommend to everyone -- my DF's parent's just picked up and are loving it to -- his dad currently holds the Balance King record for the ski jump at 350ft!

Yeah, good point! Actually my hand was killing me when we got back from our trip-we all stayed up two nights and did almost the entire tour! It's actually a good game if you are trying to learn an instrument. I'm learning to play banjo & I have the toughest time not looking at the strings when I play. But after staring at the screen playing Rock Band, I think it's making me more comfortable on my banjo.

I kinda hated that it basically told me I'm a big lardo :rotfl: but i liked it.. i like the balance games, but didn't get to try all of them. I was babysitting, so i didn't get too much time on it as the little girl i was sitting ofr was sooo into it! and the stepping one was hard.. i was like oh I'm uncoordinated like woah lol.. but practice makes perfect.. now i just have to find my own!

I can also highly recommend the wii fit! I pre-purchased it before it came out and was so excited when it came in the mail. It really works your whole body. I found it best to incooporate the strength training and the aerobics to lose weight. If you just want some fun and little excercise the balance games are for you. Either way its great entertainment. I just wish I had more time to use it!

The Wii fit is a workout lol!!!! I love it!!! my favorite is the hula!!!!!

As cool as WiiFit looks, I'm going a bit more extreme. Namely, I've been doing (OK, so I fell off the wagon and need to get my butt back in gear) the P90X workout video series. It's definitely not for the out-of-shape...you need some modicum of fitness to begin with...but in 5 weeks of doing the workouts, I have biceps for the first time in my life and am nearly able to do a pull-up.

The guy doing it is an annoying prick, but I'll be damned if the exercises don't work. My only criticism is the schedule...between 1.25 to 1.5 hours of workouts a day, 6 days a week. Work and stress got in the way, which is what knocked me off it. I'll likely hop back on and keep going though.

My other suggestion...martial arts, especially ones that have a specific workout component. I studied Krav Maga, the a combat-oriented art developed by the Israelis. At dedicated KM Centers, they'll have exercise/fitness geared workouts separate from the self-defense or combat focused classes. It's a complete total body workout that's a heck of a lot of fun. Krav got me in the best shape I'd ever been in, and that's coming from a HS swimmer and college hockey player.

I have never really been a big fan of games consoles (apart from a brief love affair with Abes Odessey years ago which I became addicted to)... but I LOVE the wii. Anything that gets kids (and adults) up and moving has to be a good thing! Mum bought me the wii fit a few weeks ago as an early birthday present, and its great fun. I work out and run quite a bit anyhow, so the cardio section isn't really enough for me to use as my only workout, apart from the hula, which has me panting!! My mission in life (I need to get out more) is to manage the step getting 'perfects' right the way through! I love the yoga and the strengthening sections... and I officially suck at the balance games!!! I have yet to manage to jump on the tightrope, and as for heading the ball in soccer.... forget it!!!

AHHHHH! DH just bought a Wii this weekend while I was at a crop. I came home to him & a friend playing. I sooooo want the Wii fit now. My friend has it and says it's awesome!!

wendy you would love it..you so have to get one.

I just bought this for DF for his birthday on friday and I can't WAIT to give it to him!! So glad it's working out so well - we'll be in wedding shape in no time!! :thumbsup2 Although, I HAVE heard similarly, that you really need to supplement with other work outs...

I know they are hard to find. I forgot to pre order mario kart so I ended up getting it off ebay lol. Anything with Wii you have to preorder.

Preordering IS the way to go, although i tried to preorder a week before wii fit and the guy at game stop LAUGHED at me! He was like "yeah, we're sold out of our first 4 shipments, we're not doing any more preorders." Boo.

I found the one I bought for DF on ebay. It was more expensive then retail, but I justified it because I couldn't find it ANYWHERE. It retails for $90 and I paid $160 (with shipping). Yeah, super suck - but at least it came in time for DFs bday.
