While at WWoHP last year, I purchased a wand for my son at ollivanders. By the time we got home, the wand had broke. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with "wand replacement"??:confused3 I probably still have the receipt. We are going back to WWoHP next week...do you think if I brought back the wand they might replace it??? Thanks so much for your advice....I just love this board...so helpful!!

Maybe....I also wonder if many others have had experience with their wands breaking because I really want to get one when I'm down there soon, but before I do I want to make sure that they don't all break.

The wands aren't supposed to be used as a toy as they are only made of resin. However, I would definitely take it along and give it a try. Can never hurt to ask.

We bought 2 last year and haven't had any problems with either of them breaking.

There's a lady that posts here pretty frequently (inkkognito I think?) who said her husband's broke right after they got it. I believe she said she dropped it. She just super glued it back together.

that's right.
barb, inkkognito sp? said super glue fixed it right up.

for some reason unknown to me, inkkognito/Barb, hasn't been posting over here in months.

maybe her husband used the wand and cast a spell.........:rolleyes1

jk barb in case you are reading.....

I found that the Ollivander's wands are not made the same way as the character replica wands. I saw several kids throughout the park who had an Ollivander wand that broke. Mine is really flimsy as well - the handle part is coming loose from the actual wand part. I much prefer the character wands!

Can you explain to me what you mean by Ollivander's wands vs. character wands? Are all of these purchased at WWoHP?

If you had the elder wand you could probably fix it yourself. ;)

We have three wands at our house and so far they are all intact. The kids play with them some even though they aren't officially toys and so far so good. We did buy the character wands if that makes a difference.

The character wands are replicas of the wands used by Harry, Hermoine, Ron, etc in the movies. The Ollivander wands are unique, not based on wands used in the movies, but are apparently more fragile. As I recall, they were also more expensive. HTH

BTW, we bought three last summer and all three are intact and the kids do play with them pretty regularly.

Good luck, but you have to remember the wand was purchased a year ago. Not many places will replace items (toys) after that period of time.

As you walk into the wand shop from the show, the first wands you come to are Ollivander's wands. They are based on your birthday. For example I was born Oct 30th and my younger son was born Nov 23rd, however, both of our wands would be a Reed one. My older son's birthday is Oct 13th and his wand would be an Ivy one. As you walk further into the store and turn left to go into the next gift shop there are some shelves that hold the character wands. The character wands are replicas of the the ones used by the different characters in the movies.
