Tracy

tracy Not sure whether you mean my run or signed up for boston? Run wise- yep yep. Did 8.6 miles because it wasn't a good run so added a bit. How do you guys run in the cold- it was -1 and my lungs were chilly :rotfl:
Boston-wise, just waiting for my friend to confirm the places now! Get you with an extra walk after a jog, brilliant

So 8.6 miles (a couple of 15sec stops to catch my breath- no more seconds!!! i'm strict and annoyed i have to take that) took 76 mins then another 10 mins stretch straight after and will be doing 10 more later.

Adding another 7 miles today (3.5 mile run and then 3.5 mile bike...I had to run to where my bike was and then ride it home!)

Lots of stretching today, too since I was really fatigued from yesterday's long run. So time = 1:20.

Keep going Warriors!

hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving. checking in with some miles to report.
11/24 7.31 mile run 1:08
11/25 5.01 mile run 48 minutes
11/26 7.01 mile run 1:10
11/28 9.20 mile run 1:31
11/29 18.29 mile run 3:06

quick fly by 0.62mile swim with Dmum- 30 mins plus 10 mins stretch and exercises afterwards.

Did a stonker 8 mile walk this morning. It was about to happen at some point, so I will take it with a smile. 1 hour 59min and 42sec. 5 min warmup and 5 min cooldown.
The bit of dancing I did at a wedding last night in heels probably didn't help now that I think about it.

6.3 miles in 59 minutes today.

That gives me a total of 140 miles in 23:37 for the month. All running miles.

I'm (literally) still really apprehensive about riding the bike after my wreck last month. Haven't been on it since. One of my goals is to talk myself back on it for some cross training on my short mileage run days. Maybe tomorrow.

Or maybe not. :(

I got busy and forgot to report my miles for yesterday. I did 4 miles in 59:34 minutes. Today was a rest day!

Kate, the weather in Boston for the marathon is always different. Last year, if I remember correctly, was a gorgeous day. The year before a Nor' Easter came through and they almost had to cancel for the first time ever. It can be chilly or hot and humid. New England weather is very unpredictable. Closer to the race we can look at the long range forecast. Do you know where you'll be staying? This is exciting!!!!!

Have a great week Warriors!!!!!

Hey Warriors...

Just wanted to check in real quick with my numbers for this weekends races (miles DOUBLED of course)...

11/27-5k turkey trot, 6.2 miles, 35:40
11/30-Space Coast 1/2 (My FIRST 1/2!!!), 26.2 miles, 2:48 (according to Garmin and includes potty stop times)

Loved the 1/2 marathon. Beautiful flat course along the indian river (good course for a PR I would imagine). Very walker friendly (Tracy you should try to put this one on your calendar for next year. I'd love to do it again.) Bling and shirt (long sleeve Brooks tech shirt) were awesome. We also got beach towels at the end. :cool1: I plan on posting a full report tomorrow with a few pics!!

Yikes. Buy weekedn and come to work adn find out that I'm swamped. On teh bright side, OT means comp time adn more comp time means I might be able to travel to another ace in 09. ;)

Had to skip Thursday due to poor packing, but did 8 miles run adn .5 mile walk Saturday. ~2.5 hours.

I'll try to dig myself out so I can catch up with everyone soon!

Hey team-

11/27: 6 miles in 67 minutes
11/28: 3 miles in 33 minutes

I was on a roll, but then between minor PF flare up (didn't want it to become major!) and rain, that was it for me over the holidays. Still, better than nothing!

Happy Tuesday! You Guys Rock!!

Hey Warriors, Here's my report...

Space Coast ½ Marathon-11/30/08

This was my first ½ marathon. It was a great experience.:goodvibes Since this was my first half, I tried to not set too many expectations, other than using it as a learning experience and hopefully finishing in under 3 hours. I am using the MfM R:W plan for training and was a bit concerned because I only trained up to 9 miles (I had been hoping to get to 10 as the plan recommends, but LTO and I only made it to 9).

Packet Pick-Up/Night Before
-Packet pick up was at the host hotel (Radisson at Port Canaveral), and was super easy. I was able to exchange my shirt for a smaller size too. They also had a pretty nice dinner set up ( free for runners, maybe 5 dollars for family?). We didn’t eat dinner there since we had a large lunch and I just wasn’t ready to eat at that time. I ended up getting a salad and having a slice of pizza later on. I went to bed around 11 after getting all my stuff ready and slept until 2, then kept waking up every half hour or so, having dreams all night of oversleeping and missing the race. I got up at 430 and was on the shuttle to the start just before 5am. The shuttle was great, on time and a nice bus.

Pre-Race
-The race started and ended in Cocoa Village, which was really nice and was all lit up with Christmas lights. Bag Check, Finish line and port a potties were all in the park there (name escapes me at the moment). The race was due to start at 6am, so I walked around a bit and warmed up, used the potties a couple of times, then checked my bag and headed to my corral. The corrals were assigned based on the time you gave when registering.

The Race Itself: The race started about 10 minutes late, not sure why. There was a space shuttle liftoff themed countdown on a jumbotron. The course was an out and back. North for 6.5 miles along the Indian River and back to town. Full runners continued south once reaching town again for 6.5 miles and then headed back. The course went through a residential area (VERY nice houses!). There were quite a few residents out to watch the race. There was even a guy at mile 12 misting people with his garden hose!! Also, once I hit the turn around to go back, I was running into some very strong wind!!! There was Water and Gatorade every mile, Gu at mile 8 and for the full they had Gu at every stop after mile 14 and sponges at some of them. It was very flat, and I think it would be a good course to PR on. Lots of volunteers and a lot of them were in space themed costumes. Plentiful potties too on the course!!

The first 8 miles or so flew by. I tried to stick to my intervals (Run5/Walk1) as much as possible. I had some clif shot bloks every few miles and took the Gu at mile 8. Miles 9 and 10 were really rough. My legs were TIRED. I walked ALOT more and ran slower. I was able to pick up the pace again for 11,12 and 13. And I finished in 2:48 (probably 2:44 if you take out potty stops). Got TONS of comments on my WISH shirt, I wore the race ready one I just got in the mail. There was also a timing mat at the turnaround.

Apparently they even announced my name and town when I came into the park to finish. I didn’t hear it, but DH did. I got my chip cut off and then got my medal, which is totally cool. It’s way wider and heavier than the Minnie 15K medal. They also gave us beach towels! The shirt is a long sleeve brooks tech shirt. Also got my picture taken with my medal and the guy took one of me and DH too. They also took one pre-race and several during the race.

There was a big post race breakfast as well that looked great (pancakes, pastries, bananas etc). I did not have anything, I really only wanted to drink (water/gatorade) that is and we also needed to get back to the hotel for check out.

Final thoughtsI am really glad I did this race. I find comfort in feeling that I have a better idea of what to expect at Disney (of course this race wasn’t nearly as big as Disney, so that will be new). I know what I’ll need to do for fueling and hydration for 13.1 miles. I am a little sore today, but nothing like I thought it would be.

I am still kind of mentally processing that I have actually completed a ½ marathon. I think back to what I was doing a year ago (nothing) and it blows my mind to think of how far I have come. So glad that I have found WISH. I am very much looking forward to January!

Here are a couple pics. All the race pics I took are on a disposable, so I need to get that developed. Hopefully the ones taken by the race photog's will be up soon.

What awesome bling!!!

I have been out of town, but did manage to get in a run...if you can call it that. I was in Reno (meaning high altitude) and had major problems breathing. I'm just not used to that. Not to mention the route my sister in law took me on is straight down a canyon and then straight back up. Ugh! It was only 2 miles but I thought I was going to die!

So 2 miles in 30 minutes. Then we went on an 1.5 hour hike in the mountains!

Awesome job, Amy!

Easy day for me today...

2 mile walk, some strength, some core. 60 minutes.

Amy: Liked the photos and great job!!

Michelle: Glad to hear you made it through the altitude issues - 2 miles was probably more like 6 for you!!!

be back later today with my miles after work....

Great job Amy! love teh bling!

Kate - Wanted to jump in quick with cold weather info. First, your lungs will get used to it. Expect your time to drop. though. It takes more energy to warm your air and deal with teh cod adn you will have extra layers. We had our first lung-stinger Saturday. Luckly, it warmed up quick. It was abut 22 here (maybe around -7 fo you). We never go below 20 degrees F, though, adn that seems pretty standard. So, for you, that's -6.67. I highly recommend not going out when it's colder than that.

I did 60 min run (5.6 miles) followed by 60 min yoga-laties last night. Very tired and sore.
