Walt's Warriors (Team 7) Miles and Hours

Hey kids!

I ran 5 miles Sunday. It's the longest I've run in recent memory so I was happy (even if it did take about an hour!;) ) Why the sudden inspiration?

I signed up for the Minnie 15k!!! Now I just need to get serious about training more consistently (just for distance, I totally don't care about speed, which is liberating...)

I also thought about my Warriors yesterday when I was trying to decide if I wanted to stop on my run. I thought about some of us getting PBs, and I thought about Roxy and her poor toe, recuperating Lily, and our sick Warriors, and I had to keep going. My peeps were with me in spirit!

Now my only concern is trying to decide if my favorite WISH tank will still fit May 4! Glad I never bothered to alter the length!

Carrie, get some rest.
and I think my report is a bit off for the week,

I am listed at TIGER LILY 03 (Lily) - 2/9.75
and I actually did 220 minutes 3:40 I think that is, not 2 (the 9.75 is ok)

Sorry Lily! I ws getting tired and very likely converted 220 minutes to 2 hours. :headache: I'll get it all fixed tonight.

Good Morning Team!!!

A cloudy, blustery day in beautiful St Augustine. Today I did 33.5 miles in 2:01 on my bicycle.

My rear derailleur cable came loose 8 miles outside of town in the middle of potato crop heaven & I had to slog my way back into town stuck in highest gear.

Against the wind.

Have I mentioned before I do not like biking on windy days???

Hey hey guys. Carrie, good job on catching up- have to admit i haven't checked the totals but i'm sure they're great! I literally can't wait til MAY! 5 weeks on sunday we'll be landing in the world giving me a week to get used to Mickey land humidity.

Been out today for a 5 mile run, did it in 47 mins then came home and stretched for 5mins totalling 52mins.

Got first of 3 night shifts tonight, but luckily have work to do so it should go quite quickly popcorn::

Hey there Warriors!!!

Yay Jen for signing up for the Minnie!!!

Jim... for the riding against the wind!

You guys are doing great! I wish I could report I'd lost 7lbs! ;)

Keep up the good work everyone!!!

Oh, I wanted to share this story...

So I was talking to a workmate today. His wife did the Virginia Beach Marathon this past weekend. She ran it in 5 hrs and something... His Dad, who is 71 yrs old, walked it in something like 3.5 hrs!!! I just thought that was so encouraging and wanted to share.

I did my 40 min of XT last night. 20 min on the elliptical and 20 min on the bike...

All for now!
Stacie

well done stacie and great bit of inspiration for us all too.

Random question alert!!! I'm trying to find something consistent to eat before runs and have settled for cereal called oatiflakes or bagel with jam (doesn't seem to keep me going as long tho). Sooo, do they sell oatiflakes in the US/ florida specifically i guess? Ha ha maybe i'm over thinking these things altho my new guy told me i should be tapering for my 5mile this sunday, i giggled but then he does do triathlons!

I have not heard of Oatiflakes. WHo are they made by? Maybe tehy sell them here under a different name.

i think the company is weetabix, but again could have a different name. I guess if i'm going to be really picky could pack some but i swore i'd never be that kind of holidayer!!!! Maybe it doesn't count as they're only for the run :rotfl:

We put everything we need for our runs (shoes, clothes..) in carry on, except Powerade, 'cause we can't. Packing running food does not make oyu "that ckind of vacationer" it makes you a smart racer.

Yay! I got out and did 5 miles today!! It was rough though. I was pushing my kids in the jogger stroller and the wind was blowing against me and I am still sick. But I did it!! So it was nothing record breaking, but I did 5.1 miles in 1:11

When I got back I went in my pool for the first time. It was very cold, but felt really good.

Kate - don't think you are strange for bringing your own food with you! I always do.

Barb - Congrats on the weight loss!! I could use to lose a few myself.

Jen - Yay on signing up for Minnie!!

Stacie - Great job on the cross training :)

Jim- I hear ya on the wind! I was cursing it today!

Have a great day everyone!
Becky

Warmup and down: 4.5 min and .25 miles
Walking: 45min37sec and 3 miles.

Believe it or not I usually don't eat much first thing in the morning before I go out, even for a half marathon. I may have alittle bit of dry cereal, or part of a granola type bar. I sometimes will have 1/2 cup milk and then carry a small bottle of water to have some as I wait for the race to begin. I will hydrate well the day before and I find that the water/powerade stations along the way work well for me, plus nerves makes me have to visit the POP and I hate that and I hate having to stop during a race to use a POP. Afterwards, I eat!!!

Kate: Here in South Florida I have not seen Oatiflakes cereal, so if you are really into a routine of eating it, then I would bring it.

Jen: Yea, you're going to do the Minnie!

Jim: I agree with you, I had a hard enough time walking in the wind at the park tonight (hair was everywhere) Quite windy down here in South Florida. Although, it helped to keep humidity low and temps nice!

Becky: Hey, you did good - you went out there and did something which is better than nothing!! Good for you!! Hope you feel much better soon.

Staci: That was a great story, a 71year old doing a marathon in 3.5 hours that's like about an 8min mile!! whoa.

GO Team Warriors!!
