Walt's apartment returning to tours?

Disneyland has filed a permit to build an elevator that will access the 2nd floor of city hall and Walt's apartment.

I know @DisneyKevin has mentioned this is why they stopped tours of the apartment.

We were able to tour Walt's Apartment in October.

I wonder if that was Kevin and John pulling off some surprises. On the recap that aired 1/23 Kevin made the point of warning participants it's not part of the tour anymore. Also, a reader posted a ABD review on the boards back last summer and they were told they would be the absolutely last tour to do it, the guides broke the bad news and were able to get a final exception since the guests had no warning.

I'm sorry, but I find it a bit over the top that they had to remove this because it isn't ADA compliant. Seriously? It's a private tour... Can't they just mention in the tour description that parts of the tour are not accessible for people who can't use stairs?

I believe the Walk in Walt's footstep tour used to also include the apt but I can't remember when that was stopped, I think mid 2015, also for ADA reasons.

I just hope @rteetz is correct. I have never seen Walt's apt and it's always been a regret, in the past the chances I had I was like "$100 is sooo much for a tour."
Now looking back, I would pay that without thinking twice. Same thing with club 33, which is virtually impossible to get into anymore.

I have a feeling that they regreted adding the apartment to Walk in Walt's Footsteps and may have been looking for an "out". That's an awful lot of people traipsing through there every day. Not sure we'll see it back on the daily tour. JMHO

I have heard that as well. It is interesting that they are adding an elevator now though.
