I posted this someplace before, I don't remember if it was on this board or not. About 10 years ago I went to Orlando for a convention. I can't remember the name of the hotel on International Drive but it was eight stories with outside access and continuous balcony around the whole building.
From up there I coule watch the fire works at MK and EPCOT at the same time, or close to the same time. During the day I walked around the balcony and looked at the Orlando/Kissimmee area from every direction. What struck me the most was that fact that Walt's deciding to buy land there accounted for everything I saw from that balcony. Highways, thousands of buildings as far as the eye could see. When Walt was alive all that existed were a couple of small farming towns and some cattle pastures and a big swamp. One man, made a decision to buy land in a relatively deserted place and from that all that growth happened. Talk about one persons ability to influence and make such economic growth happen so quickly blew my mind.
I personally managed to buy a piece of land and build a house, but I was close to the last person in the suburb to do that. So my influence was limited to myself, a plot of land and a building and had nothing to do with what the area became except for being the last person in the development. Where's my biography?
The above paragraph is the highlight of my autobiography. I'm still waiting for someone else to recognize my accomplishments and actually do the biography. It should be easy to read in one 15 minute sitting.
