Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

That's not the only exec suite configuration, though. Sometimes the parlor is just a parlor with no Murphy bed, although the couch may be a foldout. I usually travel solo, so I don't pay attention to the number of beds.

The Dolphin always had the King Murphy bed, the swan does not have any bedding, just a sofa bed. Not sure if this changed post-renovation.

I dropped down to gold March 1 since I didn't requalify for platinum last year. Don't worry. I've got a couple of stays locally this weekend that will make #24 and #25 so I'll be platinum once they post. :)
Great!!! I was platinum for a few years back around 2001-2003 time frame I think it was. Otherwise always gold. Platinum is definitely nice. Hope the benefits of the various levels are not diluted in coming years with the Marriott acquisition.

Have a Merry Christmas, a great New Year.

I found out what's going on:

And I was wrong in calling it a Murphy bed, it's a Sico bed.
That description says the wet bar is only available in some rooms.

I may have had it confused with a Grand suite; I don't always know whether the upgrade was to grand/executive/governors.

This is the page for the premium studios/deluxe family rooms, but they qualify the floor plans with a notes that room layouts vary widely:

I was indeed spoiled by the waiving of the resort fee and the upgrades as a platinum at the Swolphin. I'm wondering about the Marriott effect as well.

Happy Solstifestivuchristmakwanzukkah!

Has anyone requested a room with a view of Epcot when staying on points and if so was your request fulfilled? It looks like the east wing would have an Epcot view but I do not know what rooms are in that wing or if any of those rooms are available for points bookings.?

We received Epcot view upon request twice while staying on points. Definitely ask.

Question about booking with a conference-
I want to add on some nights onto my current reservation but everything is booked due to two large conferences being there. Has anyone ever booked through a conference even though they weren't attending?

No, I never have. Is it even possible? Wouldn't you need to be registered at the conference to be able to access the rooms?

Not sure about Swan/Dolphin, but other places you register for the conference with the host, and book the hotel separate, you just need to tell them when booking...BUT most conferences only get a certain number of rooms in their block for the rate, and most sellout their block, it would be freezing out an attendee...and they often get a special rate so it is a morally shady action. The former scout leader in me says it is cheating.

Okay, now I feel guilty:)

My dh has had to provide certain codes when registering for hotel rooms for some conferences.

Also I have posted before when rooms are sold out due to conferences lots of the time I am lucky to get a sold out room with dh frequent flier miles. I think once or twice it didnt work.

I just did the Swan resort guest survey. Honestly I like the Disney surveys much more.

I felt the Swan (Westin) survey really didnt leave you much room to voice your concerns or give them specific feedback. It was a more of like check this box and rate this etc.

At the end of the survey they say state one way we can improve your stay, hmm I had about three, I didnt care and wrote just one big run on sentence.

Another part had said other about issues not a check off box option on the list so I tried writing a big run on thing there too, don't know how much of it will be seen.

I stated dh issues with a locked area in the storage area for his laptop, also I told them they really need to improve the character experience at the character breakfast, not the food.

They asked if I told people negative things about our stay as well as the positives, well um that would be a yes, hello disboards, lol!!

I didnt write anything about the lobby furniture but I find it totally uncomfortable and impractical for big people like dh and its so low and with my back issues if I sit in the lobby I just sit in the wheelchair, much better for my back.

Hmm, so just wondering, if You could suggest one thing to make your stay better what would it be, sorry just thinking of Swan but I am sure the Dolphin would be similar.

I realize the Swan & Dolphin are convention hotels, but I really, really dislike when they close down parts of the resort for convention gatherings...especially the pool areas.

I didn't realize they did this. What sort of notification do they give you when they do this?

Another question for the forum- how can I order in cases of water? I understand that you can't ship things there and from what I can tell you can't order cases from their room delivery service. We will not have a car.
Thank you!

We get the water by getting a town car and asking for the grocery stop. We just stop at the Speedway by the resort. But in December dh said they only had the small bottles of water, like the childrens size, so I told him not to get it.

He did get some bigger bottles of dasani there.

I don't know if they sell cases in the gift shops at S/D, can someone verify this? But I know on the boardwalk, I think its the screen door store you can get a case but then you have to lug it back to your room.

You do get 2 regular size bottles of water in your room each day as part of the resort fee.

We also went to the Beach Club and got three bigger bottles of water at the Marketplace because we got the ap discount there and wanted some other things there too and we were eating dinner at Cape May so we just went over after dinner. They give you a nice bag to carry your purchases in.

On our last 2 trips , in Oct. was the big gartner convention, they didnt tell us they were having some gathering near the boat dock. It was just loud music that was a little annoying if you had a balcony and were not in the parks early. No people yet when we heard it, just the music and they had some food trucks and little picnic tables set up you just worked your way around.

In Dec. they had a wedding and they were using the little swan alcove area to the L of the boat dock so you couldnt sit there. I was actually in the bathroom with one of the bridesmaids and her mom and told them they looked really nice.

We spend most of the time in the parks so it doesnt really bother us.

The thing that would really bother me is not being able to use the pool. We swim all day and do parks at night. It would be a deal breaker if we couldn't. Do they notify you in advance if the pool area is closed?

Not normally, no.
