Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Every time I've stayed here I've set up a private transfer through the swan/dolphin concierge service. This is their website: http://swandolphin.com/concierge/ . They send a driver who meets you at luggage claim and he will have a sign with your name on it. He helps you collect your bags and helps you bring them to the car. It's a very nice car or van depending on the size of your party. He puts all the bags in the car for you and there's a tv screen with cartoons for the kids. He will stop at the grocery store or Walmart on the way to the hotel. It's a really great way to start your vacation. You feel like you're taken care of right from the start.

The fridges are minisized and I think they actually might not have freezer.
Do you recall how much it costs?

Item #4

4. Is there transportation to/from the airport to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin? Is there a fee?
Yes, there is transportation to/from the Orlando International Airport. The fees are listed below*.

From airport to hotel (one-way fee*): Approximately
Sedan (up to 4 people) $85.00
SUV (up to 5 people) or VAN (up to 8 people) $103.00
Taxi Service $75.00
Limousine (up to 8 people - includes 15% gratuity) $232.30

From hotel to airport (one-way fee*): Approximately
Sedan (up to 4 people) $70.00
SUV (up to 5 people) or VAN (up to 8 people) $70.00
Taxi Service $63.00
Limousine (up to 8 people - includes 15% gratuity) $195.50

Note: While our limousines hold 8 passengers, large amounts of luggage may require an additional vehicle.

Thanks. That is not a great price. I've used Orlando Airport Towncar Service a dozen or so times for various reasons and I feel like they charge $60 plus tip for their airport service.

Hoping someone can help me with this. We will be staying at the Swan in November and I booked our reservations about 4 months ago. I originally booked the Dolphin with reward points online then called the next day and switched it to the Swam with Reward points. On MDE I've had the below message (still showing the Dolphin). I've called the hotel/Starwood and they didnt know what was going on but did confirm I am 100% on their side showing the Swan. Then they sent me to a "Disney specialist" and she also wasnt sure what was going on and just said "dont worry we show you at the Swan." I let them know that I'm concerned at the 60 day mark I wont be able to do Fastpasses and they said it "shouldnt" be a problem. They said the Starwood system and the Disney MDE arent always linked up they are 2 separate systems but again dont worry all looks accurate. Also I've tried linking the reservation # that I got on the Swan email they sent me and it still wont link (they even confirmed the # I had was accurate).

Has anyone else had any problems? Also on the 9th we transfer to the Poly, that reservation on MDE is showing up correct. thank you for any thoughts on this!!!

As of today, the same old message on MDE :

First the Disney Reservation number always starts with a 4 and is 12 digits.

From your post it appears that you might not have the right confirmation number from the Swan. Is the confirmation in the email from the Swan the same one you posted or is it different from the original Dolphin confirmation number that you listed as 4-----?

Dave

That's what I'm thinking too. When you switch from dolphin to swan or the other way you get a completely different confirmation number. The Starwood one will be nine digits and it will work in MDE too. I would double check your emails or log into spg.com and view your upcoming stays to be sure you have the right number in MDE.

The email that The Swan sent me the # starts with a 5 and is 8 digits long..... I guess it technically starts with a 0 so it's 9 digits long??

Also, I just went on SPG.com and the reservation does look correct (swan not Dolphin). The conf # is different, in 1 spot it starts with a 5 the other it's a 0 then a 5.

With spg confirmation numbers they are supposed to be 9 digits long. When the first digit is a zero it won't always show the zero and then it looks like only 8 digits. To be on the safe side I might enter the zero first and then the remaining 8 digits in MDE. Is this a standard room on points or an upgraded one? Because if it's an upgraded room on points I know on spg.com it will say something like its a complex rate plan and you cannot view it online so it might make sense if you can't see details about the rate on MDE. I think being unable to see the rate details should have no impact on your ability to make ADRs and fastpass + selections.

ETA another thought I had was when did you take out the dolphin confirmation and add the swan? I remember I added 2 people to my room and they told me to give it 24 hours to reflect in MDE

thank you for the response, I appreciate it. I tried adding the 0 first and I got a message saying it's unable to find information at this time. I made all changes 3 months ago so I'm guessing it should've updated by now. I'm thinking you are right though, if I have ticket that are linked to each of us on MDE then hopefully no problems at the 60 day mark?

thanks again!

OK, you really need the Disney Confirmation number to link correctly in MDE.

Call Westin or Disney Central Reservations, either can lookup the Disney Confirmation number. Again it starts with a 4 and is 12 digits. This is the number that you will need to correctly link your reservation in MDE. This will resolve any conflicts with what Disney has in their reservation system.

Yes, there can be a 24hr delay in communication from the Sheraton (Dolphin) / Westin (Swan) reservation system and the Disney CRO.

You really want to get this sorted before your 60 day window to make the FP+ window work for both. Do you have tickets tied to either your Swan or Poly reservation?

You may have done this...
But i booked some reward points a while back and if i remember correctly the confirmation # in the email wouldn't work. I ended up logging in to my spg account and copy/pasting the # it gave there under my reservations. That worked.
Hope you get it sorted out.

Hi All -- just booked our first visit to the Dolphin -- we are planning 8 or 9 nights (2/24-3/5), but unfortunately, 2 days were unbookable in the middle of our stay, so for now, I booked 4 nights and 3 night on either end, and will keep an eye on reservations for the middle nights (and will do a split stay elsewhere if needed). Surprised to see 2 nights in the middle of the week not available! Fingers crossed that they open up, since I think we would be eligible for a free 5th night!

We have SPG points to use, so I booked using those (my husband is Gold right now, but will probably be platinum by the time we travel) - any opinions on whether booking the Dolphin or Swan is better in terms of getting a balcony? We have little ones, so having a balcony to relax at night after bedtime is important to us!

With the Dolphin being much larger than the Swan, I would think that the Dolphin would have more balconies and therefore a better chance of getting one.

Our experience with other towncar services, and also shopping it again this past March, was that your $60 price correlates more to a one-way price. We have never paid less than $100 round trip for a private car with grocery stop. Shared shuttle service is also available and is priced per-person. Those do not include grocery stops, may stop at other hotels, and end up being more expensive for more than 2 people.

The standard balconies at Dolphin are teensie and suspended wide open in midair. We find them in no way to be useful or relaxing. The ones at Swan appear to be very similar, but I've not experienced one. I find seeing people on their balconies at S/D to be a rare sight. If I had it to do over with napping children, I'd choose a patio instead.

I don't care for the balconies either. They're pretty small. I was talking to someone in reservations one day and she said the main floor rooms with patios go quickly. People book them because they think you can smoke there. Or because it's easier access to the DSAs something like that. I didn't get the entire gist of what she was saying. But the main theme I took away is that these rooms are in demand. So you might want to request them early.

Thanks for the balcony feedback - that's too bad! We really do enjoy a glass of wine or beer at night after the kids are down ---- but "free" rooms via points is hard to pass up. Now to decide over a patio vs hoping for a high level room with a park or fireworks view....
