Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Hey everyone - This thread has been very helpful as we plan our first stay at S&D. I saw on some earlier posts when calling to make sure to ask for "in-house reservations". I called the 407 number but didn't ask for in-house. Does this mean I was put through to the main call center? I called today during normal business hours.
407-934-4000 then 1 gets you in-house reservations.

Can anyone confirm recently that with a swan and dolphin reservation, they were able to make dining reservations at day 60+10?

Thank you. I’ll be getting up at 3am to make reservations for us, so I am really hoping I have to only do it one day.
I hear ya, left coaster here too! Last trip we used a TA was so great to see all the ADR messages on my email after she was done booking... and I woke up ;)

So excited! I just booked our stay at Swan yesterday for this late Oct into November - I was going back and forth about this or a cheaper Disney Springs hotel, but this is our last Disney trip before our oldest heads off to college in two years, so I wanted it to be a little more special. After reading more and more about what is in the area, both at Swolphin and at Boardwalk, we are so excited. We're going to do park hoppers because we like eating in the world showcase, so we'll just walk off our dinner at the end of the evening!

Quick question - we're arriving via Amtrak during the Food/Wine festival at the hotels, and our first day won't be a park day but will hopefully be warm enough for the pool. What's the activity level like at the Food/Wine festival? Is it all over the grounds?

If you are referring to the Food & Wine Classic at the Swan & Dolphin, the next Classic is scheduled for the end of October 2021. So, if you arriving in November, the Classic will no longer be going on. Until 2020, the Classic took over a large area between the Swan and Dolphin, with a live (and loud) band set up in back of the Dolphin. I don’t believe it has been announced what format the Classic will have this year, due to so many unknowns.

We are arriving the day of the Food and Wine Classic. Thanks for clarification - I'll change my post.

If you did not watch the video attached to the link, I suggest viewing it for a good idea of the scope of the usual Classic. The Swan is a beautiful resort in a great location. I don’t believe you will be disappointed.

I want to sign up for the Classic this year. I have missed the last two years and it's been on my list.

Thanks for this video - I think you misunderstood my question, though. I'm actually not interested in the Food and Wine Classic and want to know if we'll be able to avoid it and just enjoy the pool - we'll be there with a 15 year old and an 11 year old, so I don't think it's something we'd be interested in doing this year - although it might be a fun empty nest trip!

I understood - just wanted you to be aware of the enormity of the Classic and the large crowds and areas normally overtaken. If you arrive early enough in the day, there should not be an issue using a pool. Since it looks like there are not yet any formalized plans for the 2021 Classic, I suggest keeping an eye on the link, or contacting the Swan for info. I can tell you that the causeway, connecting the Swan to the Dolphin, becomes very congested, once the Classic kicks off in the evening (hours are 5:30-9:00 pm.). The larger pool complex is at the Dolphin. http://Swandolphin.mobimanage.com/ListingDetails.aspx?id=26053

Again, with so much unknown for this year, your best info will probably be directly from the Swan.

Do remember that there is no Dolphin pool complex or Swan pool complex. The huge Grotto area is for both the Swan and the Dolphin. Each resort does have its own lap pool, though either can be used by either resort guests.

Thanks for correcting the language, Dan. I started writing lap pools, then changed it; it’s just been one of those days. 😕

I'm trying to research some options for our next extended family trip to WDW probably late next year. I suggested the Swan Reserve to my parents before seeing some of the room options since we really like the Epcot resort area, and my parents are have a good amount of Marriott points. I'm curious what connecting room options there are at either S/D that would kind of give that suite feel with a sitting area and separate bedrooms, without being one of the VP or Pres. Suites. My thought is that the standard style hotel connecting room could be booked on points, then the additional room could be added as a cash reservation. Has anyone done something similar or know if it is possible? I'm looking at the alcove rooms being cash, but if there are other rooms with a seating area that connect to standard rooms, those might be of interest too!

For the Swan King rooms connect to a 2 Queen on all floors and views and there a quite a few of them. Marriott often offers this combination as a family reservation where you book 1 room and the connecting room is 1/2 price. It is also allowed for point reservations.

Explain the points side of this a bit more... do you get any discount on points on the 2nd room? Or full pts cost on both?

Can anyone tell me about requesting a microwave? Are they available? Do they charge? Sorry if I missed this - I've read quite a few pages but didn't see anything mentioned. Thx so much!
