Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Have changed our Christmas plans.

Was going 12/23-12/28. One night free at DS Marriott and 2 nights on points and rest cash at the swan.

Decided to get more time and are now going
12/23-1/1!!!

First night still at DS Marriott (free)
Moving to ASmovies 12/24-12/30 and then to swan on points 12/30-1/1. We will spend NYE at Epcot so will be great just walking back to resort.

Since we probably won’t be back for 2-3 years this makes better sense and gives us a few more days in parks. Plus will be taking one day off in the middle to resort hop and see decorations.

Reservations for the new Swan Reserve are now open. Looks like opening has moved again and will be September 1st vs Summer 2021 (most recent update), or next month as originally planned.

It actually has been bookable for a couple of weeks, now, for check-in date of 09/01/2021. I believe that there may at least be a soft opening in July or August, though.

Ok Swolphin fans... With the new Swan Reserve opening up for reservations, who plans to stay there? Are you excited about this new property? If you're a long-time Swan or long-time Dolphin loyalist... will you switch over to this property? Why... or why not?

Has anyone that has booked the Reserve been able to link their reservation in MDE? I booked on 2/7 and am still unable to link my reservation. I called on 2/12 and the Disney rep was unable to do it, but she said they would work on it and it would just show up in MDE once they had done it. Nothing yet. I'm not sure if their system was ready for the new resort.

I would like to try it once and see what I think. For me though, the proximity to the boats and main pools at the Swan Dolphin can't be beat.

I have looked into it, but the rooms don’t have as much appeal to me. No balconies is a big negative (I like some fresh air if possible, although my last stay at the Dolphin we didn’t have a balcony but they did upgrade us to a suite).

I might try it one day, but I'm just not thrilled about the location of it. I get that it's a business focused hotel, but nothing is drawing me in as of yet. Knowing if I want to go to the parks I will be walking or walking to catch the boat is a downside. Plus, I'm unsure how the noise from World Drive is going to impact guests with standard rooms. So I'll wait for a few other visitors, for the time being I'd stay at S/D myself. Now if the prices were really great I might change my mind, but looking at my trip dates that we have planned it was more expensive... so far.

@hedberg1661 I think they've had that available, S/D has/had been as sponsor of this site for a long time.

I thought they no longer booked it when they dropped being a sponsor...but either way that is nice that they offer them as an option. Anything to make money during these times is certainly smart.

I just noticed on the Dreams Unlimited Travel site that the Swan and Dolphin now both appear as bookable by them. Is this new or am I just late to the party?
It appears that if you want to book a package at the Swan/Dolphin you can do so through the Disney website or through a travel agent for dates in 2022. However if you want room only you can only book up to Feb. 2022 no matter how you try to do it (travel agent, Disney or direct). I already have tickets so I have to wait to book my room only for May 2022.

They're a Disney Travel partner so they've always been able to book Swalphin. They're essentially just booking with Disney Travel on your behalf, so they can book anything you can book through the Disney website, but just like booking through the Disney website, they can only book Swalphin as a package - no room-only bookings.

@DizneyLizzy no S/D are not part of the Disney plans. Swan/Dolphin has their own app but it will just list the hours the restaurants are open as well as options to book via phone or OpenTable. Use the option for "I Am On Property"

I just saw the latest Dreams Unlimited Travel Show/Podcast and John did say that they can indeed book both packages and room only. Swalphin guarantees the Dreams Clients the lowest price available with all the various discount codes out there. Thought I would share!

Really? I will give them a try. I contacted the agency I used for my 2010 trip and got an immediate response to book it myself since I wanted room only...not inclined to give them my business in the future so I'll contact Dreams Unlimited instead.

Thanks for the info; that's good to hear. When I talked to a Dreams agent a few moths ago about the Swan, she said they could only book packages (which is in line with what Disney Travel still does ). I wonder if this new arrangement with the Swalphin lets them offer better pricing than what's available through Disney Travel. I'll definitely have to see what they have to offer since we just cancelled our upcoming May trip, and are starting to plan for a May '22 trip.
