Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Yes, you can request bed rails either by calling or sending a request through this site (after you set up log in credentials)..
sorry it won't let me include the link since I am new. But if you go to the Swan website and click on the Concierge link, there is a section for special room requests!

Does anybody happen to know if I can request bed rails for my toddler? Thanks!

I wonder if they will start renovation at the Dolphin after that. We are booked for the first week in December, and having a renovated room would be wonderful!:cool1:

I think the first phase will be done this week, but they have two more phases to complete before moving on to the Dolphin. I previously heard that work at the Dolphin will not start until early 2015, which makes sense with this timetable.

Well ds and I are back from our mother/son trip.

I only requested something close to the elevators.

Upon check in:
My wheelchair was with bell services, Yay! I guess since its not a disney hotel they can do that.

Ds asked if they wanted to see his nursing license for the discount but they said no, thats ok.

We were told we were upgraded from the standard room that we booked to a resort view. It was a nice room even though it had those strange wooden x's on the windows, You still had a good view. We were on the 3rd floor.

Other observations/issues:

1. The refrig was so cold it made the yogurt like custard.
2. The pool is not open 24 hours, it closes at 11, but they said the pool area is open 24 hrs. I guess we misunderstood that.
3. The Dolphin Fountain to go line is not situated ideally. Its right by the door and you cant easily get a wheelchair in the ordering line and then when there are other scooters with families waiting to order, well you can just imagine the traffic jam we encountered!

4. A big, big no-no. We had the do not disturb sign on the room. We left the room by 11 am and we spent all day in the parks and then MNSSHP. So we got back to the room around 1 am. Our room was not made up, worse was we took our remaining bath towels with us because I knew we couldnt get them at the pool when we went the night before very late.
So we were calling customer service at 1 am asking for towels. They arrived closer to 1:30. I asked why our room was not made up? They replied if you leave the DND sign on the door and they make their one cleaning room past your room, they usually do not go back during the day, huh??????

So how would you have handled this? I was not too happy and we were checking out in the morning anyway, so we were just glad to have towels to shower with.

I dont think I would personally stay here again. Its too spread out. Dh and I like the Swan better, but since it was just ds and I, he picked the Dolphin.

We also did walk over to the Swan one morning to get the MK bus and I am glad we did because when it got to the Swan it was getting really packed. The Swan bus stop construction was a real mess.

We did go to Picabu but only for some grab and go stuff like ice cream bar and yogurt etc.

I'm not clear on something. Are you saying that you had the DND sign hanging on the doorknob until you left at 11 am, or that you had it hanging all day?

We've had our DND sign on the door in various resorts/hotels and have BEEN disturbed by housekeeping!!! I respect Dolphin housekeeping for NOT attempting to enter a room when there's a DND sign on the door! :thumbsup2

We just returned from WDW; brought our DD(21) there to start the DCP! She'll be working at the Grand Floridian and Polynesian Marinas! We didn't stay at Swan or Dolphin this trip (I will be at Dolphin in a couple weeks! ;)). I stopped by the Swan and saw my favorite front desk CM, Debbie! :goodvibes

The East wing is currently blocked off for renovations. I can't wait to see the refurbed rooms -- we're staying there over Christmas! :santa:

I see this noted in post #1 (love that post!) but I need to double check.... if I am staying at ASMO,then switching over to the Dolphin, can I get bell services to transfer luggage over? It seems impossible b/c it's not technically 'on property'..... but I also read that I am not allowed to hop a bus and just ride over with our stuff,it would only be one smallish suitcase for each of us, but I had heard that was not allowed...any advice? I would like to avoid paying a taxi to move if possible, and I know the property pretty well....

when we stayed at the Dolphin,we opted for no housekeeping ,and left the DND sign on the door....I think they assumed you didn't want them to come in.... you have to take the sign off( I don't like it when they come in when we have the sign on,and we don't want them to)

The sign was off by approx 11 am.

I usually call housekeeping when we leave the room to ask them to have it done. That way, they know we are gone & want it done as soon as they can. (Before we get back. ;-). )

Getting married at the Swan in late Oct of this year, so staying there for 10 days and have a block of 20 rooms.

With the first phase completing this week I am hoping that I can at least get a renovated room for our october stay.

Does anyone have images, pics or rendering of the renovated rooms?

Yes !
Just call bell services at the Dolphin to come get your bags (or bring your bags down whatever is easier) when you check out and they will tag them to be delivered to ASMo.

I have done this both ways, WDW to Dolphin and Dolphin to a WDW resort during split stays. Although there have been a few times when the bags didn't arrive until very late in the day so be prepared if you need medication, want to swim etc. We pack a backpack that fits into the park locker with our must have stuff.

thank you! So all I have to do is call Bell services at Dolphin? will ASMO allow me to leave my bags in lobby while waiting?

Not sure I explained it correctly - I think I read your transfer backward!

On check out day at ASMo bring your bags to bell services and ask to have them transferred to the Dolphin. You won't see them again until much later in the day.

Head to the parks/DTD etc. and then after check in time for the Dolphin head over there to check in. After you get your room call for your bags and bell service will bring them to your room. Both sets of bell services will expect a tip (ASMo and Dolphin).

Hi everyone, I'm staying at the Swan next month and have a couple of quick questions:

How big are the cribs? Just wondering if it's standard size or smaller like a pack n play. Traveling with a 2 1/2 yr old and debating bringing our own PNP.

On average, how long does it take to get from the resort to MK? Want to make sure I am leaving enough travel time to make our dining reservations and Fps.

Thank you!

Not sure about the crib question, but I would leave about 40 minutes travel time. Does not usually take that long, but you never know.

We are thinking of a June Stay at Disney..And I'm wanting to go with either the Swan/Dolphin OR Caribbean Beach Resort.
I've got some questions I'm trying to get answered so doing alot of research
In so doing....I saw TONS of BAD reviews for Swan/Dolphin on "yelp"!! So many that it made my head spin a bit!

Outdated rooms, Terrible service, garbage in the drawers, etc etc ETC!

Anyway...it left me a little cold after reading that. After seeing some video walk throughs on youtube and seeing how beautiful it was...it just didn't make a lot of sense seeing so many bad (no...AWFUL) reviews.

Any advice on this would be deeply appreciated. Especially between S/D and Caribbean beach.

Thanks all!

I truly can't imagine awful reviews of the Dolphin! We have been staying there nine years now. Love it!!!! Location is spectacular, amenities are wonderful, pool area is terrific! I would NEVER choose CB over the Swan or Dolphin! NO comparison!!
