Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Thank you guys for the excellent tips on Costco travel... never would have thought of trying that. Do you think they reserve or buy blocks of rooms? My travel dates show the Dolphin as being unavailable for two of my five night stay but Costco travel show it available and if I'm doing my math correctly the rooms are a nice discount. Am I missing something obvious here? Seems to good to be true....:worship:

Steve, I would sure ask for an upgrade, you never know. Many here, myself included, have gotten upgrades over the years. You can use this concierge request form to make room request. I always fill one out.

that is cool! I never saw this before.... can you put in a request even if you just book a traditional room with this?

So BSOGfam -
I did the Costco pkg with Swan. I believe I chose wisely. I will probably do it again, happily. The only reason I would not do it again as a first choice would be if I could rent DVC points, and stay at Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk for about the same price as the Costco package give or take. The only reason I hesitate is that the kids school calendar will play a part on when we can go, and renting points has a certain cutoff date for a price break. Long story short, if the school doesn't release the calendar enough time before the cutoff date for us to select the dates we want to go, we can't get the better dvc price. No big deal, Swan is awesome, imo.
.

Chris benton: do you know what the costco cancellation or change policy is? I looked at their website and it doesn't seem real clear. I see the part about $100 deposit per person but not sure beyond that?? I am not currently a costco member but my DD is and she will be on this trip with us.

Never mind I just found my answer: only 55% is refundable between booking and one week of arrival... I'll have to think about that. o_O

Hey SteveH -
I hope your experience is the same as mine.
I am hoping too, so far it's been great. I've been a long time Costco customer and I rarely find they do anything half baked, if they error on something they have always made it right for me.

That's my take in it too. The Costco rates for us slightly beat the best SPG rates I could find and included upgrades that would have cost much more vs the traditional rooms. I looked just after booking with Costco and found one night was sold out through SPG but was still available through Costco. The only downside to Costco is you don't earn SPG points, but even when I did the math it was still a better deal, points are nice but saving $ was better.

Yes! Anyone can request. In our previous stays my wife put in a request for view room and we got it. It never hurts to ask.

Consider insurance if you need it. On our last trip I came down the flu once arrived at WDW, so I was nervous this time around. We came really close to getting the insurance but we finally figured to skip it but the price was only around $114.

Oh I didn't realize that was an option... I'll look into that. Was the insurance option right through Costco? We have all four of parents still with us but in their mid-late 80's so health things do happen unexpectedly so it is nice to have some flexibility if there is a health emergency with one of them at home.

Right now I have rooms booked at POFQ which would cost us more per night than this Dolphin price through Costco. I have stayed Dolphin twice before and really liked it. Location can't be beat, nice pool and ammenities, good transportation etc... We usually take a town car with grocery stop so not having Magic Express is ok.

It goes through Costco but its offered by another company I want to say the cost was something like $114 for our trip but since we booked air fare on our own that wasn't included. Here is the link to the company they use, hopefully you can find the disclosures of what's covered and what's not. http://www.travelguard.com/costcotravel/

I see, looks to be around $50 per person for my trip. My friend just told me she used Costco travel to an all inclusive in Mexico with good results. I think you just need to know all the facts about cancellation etc... before you commit. Thanks for your help.

When I have purchased travel insurance, Steve (and I rarely do) it has always been through Travel Guard. I have some pretty expensive NHRA drag racing tickets for a race in early June. With the uncertain weather then (possible postponement of the race), I purchased coverage for 4 of us, about $50 total covering about $1,000 in ticketing.

Hi,

If I am doing a split stay between CBR and the Swan, will they transfer my luggage for me from CBR directly to the Swan?? Also what is the best way to get from CBR to the Swan?? Uber I assume??? TIA!!

They will transfer your luggage!

Uber or Lyft if you want to go directly. Or take the bus to Epcot/HS, have some park time, then walk or ferry to the Swan from either park :)

Best for direct: Uber
Best using Dis trans:
1. (assumption) Bus to Boardwalk
2. Bus to DHS and then walk or Friendship boat to Swolphin
3. Bus to Epcot

If you want to go to ep or dhs, then by all means, just hop on a cbr bus to really, any park, and then from that park take the easiest route back to Swolphin.
However:
If you want to go direct from cbr to Swolphin, I wouldn't go via epcot. That's a LOOOONG walk from the main entrance back to the IG. My assumption that a bus to Boardwalk would involve far less walking, and a bus to DHS would allow you to either walk to Swolphin or hop on the Friendship boat. The walk from DHS to Swolphin seems like it's a bit shorter than walking from Epcot main entrance to Swan?

Long winded answer, sorry. Also, if you don't have a hopper, you'll have to use a ticket at the Epcot main entrance to walk through.

Hi all! looking at booking a costco package at the swan as part of a split stay. Does anyone who's done it recently know if the tickets are packaged or separate? IE, if I book the swan second will my tickets forever be associated with it, (and therefore i cant book FP for my earlier stay) or are the confirmation numbers just for reg ttickets, like when you buy from undercover tourist? the mods on the ticket board werent sure and since its swolphin specific i figured id ask here. thanks!

Good question... I don't know but I am getting close to pulling the trigger on a costco pkg at Dolphin that looks to save me close to $800 over my current POFQ ressie. So I am interested in any info regarding costco travel.

I Don't know how to tell the difference between the ticket instances you are referring to. I have my ticket confirmation info from Costco, is it a special number that tells you the difference? The email lists the hotel info sep from the tickets, and the instructions are to link the tickets to the mde account.

I guess I don’t know either . :rolleyes1My guess would be that if you put the ticket confirmation number in mde, and the hotel stay also shows up, that’s bad for me. Do you have a separate hotel confirmation # in your email from them?
