Walt Disney World: New type of annual pass -- for weekdays only

To me this is just a desperate attempt to drum up business when attendance is low. Since parking isn't included, of course, you'd be better off getting an annual pass, since the difference in price covers, if I'm doing the math correctly, about 15 days of parking. I wouldn't buy that pass since I know I'd enter the park more than 15 days in the total number I'm permitted (have to calculate that one).

It is Florida Resident Only. Also it has been in effect since Moday and I posted about it on Sunday in TPA&S. And it has been on the new items list for a few days already.

I'm guessing this type of pass might be geared primarily at locals, who could use public transit instead of driving.

There is public transportation to the entrance of MK, EPCOT, AK and HS? Who knew!

That's great information for guests staying off property if they don't like the shuttle offered from the hotel!

I think right now Disney is doing all it can to bring in as many bodies as possible. People are not spending as they once did once there...so the answer is to get more people inside the park to compensate for the spending downturn. Hence the crowded parks many complain of.

Sign of the times.

There is public transportation (Lynx bus) available to the Transportation & Ticket Center and Downtown Disney (at the otherwise unused West Side bus facility). Of course, from the TTC, you can get Disney transportation to Animal Kingdom, the Studios, or Epcot Center.

Lynx routes do indeed pass many off-site hotels, and provide an option to reach the parks without using the hotel shuttle - if there is one - which often operates limited hours.

Only one person in the family would need to have an annual pass to get the parking though. So if you are a family of 4, once person could get the annual and the rest of the family could get a seasonal or weekday pass.

Now if they only had a monthly (no interest) payment option like Universal has, it would be awesome

Yeah, what's the deal with that? Even Disneyland has a financing option so it isn't like it's uncharted territory for Disney. It would take out a bit of the sting when buying/renewing an AP.

The lack of financing option is the ONE thing keeping my family from buying passes. I don't mind at all shelling out $50-$60 or so a month for my whole family to go to WDW. If they announced tomorrow that they were doing this, I'd sign up the next day. I hope they realize someday, soon, how much revenue this could produce.

be perfect if no black outs--of course pays for itself on 3rd visit. I wonder if they give 15 mos for it as well--or will???

The Select Weekday Pass has the same blockout dates as the Seasonal Pass. And the information that Disney posted (internally) said there is no discount on renewal and that it is not eligible for the 15 month promotions.

I'm sure there are those who could use this pass, but it is completely useless for my family. With school-age children, it's blocked out/not valid all the times that my children could go. We'll stick with the seasonal, although those are getting pricier and pricier. :sad2:
