Ths is the first I've seen of "details" rather than just the titles
to me here is the news-
"Celebrating Mickey Mouse's career in film, this volume covers Mickey's films from 1939 to 1995 "
I knew that a second MMilc was coming, but I didn't know it would include Mickey's Christmas Carol, Prince and the Pauper, and most especially, the Runaway Brain! How great will it be to have a copy of that that isn't mpeg~!
I counted and there are 33 shorts that Mickey is in between 1939-1995, and this says only 21 will be on the set. Shoot. I guess, if you think about it, the shorts in the late 40s-the 50s that Mickey is in become increasingly Pluto, so maybe they are holding those for a pluto set or something? Actually, many of those probably have the pluto label and Mickey just makes an appearance if you think about it.
I'm a little bummed to read that there are 36 Donald shorts on the set, after last year's Goofy had what 40 something, almost 50 iirc. That still leaves a TON of Donald's, they maybe going for three sets there instead of two. One thing that confuses that a little might be that several of the Donald after 1941 could be in the war times treasure. So that is a natural cut point I guess. This is salient to me because I don't expect there would ever be a Humphrey Bear set, and so the closest thing to one will be the donald set that has most of them (I hope that when they get there that those that were in cinemascope will be in that aspect ratio and not full frame). So anyway it could be two more sets before they get Donald up to the 50's and Humphrey bear. Shoot. Boy I wish Disney would just make a Humphrey Set! Right after the Pluto set.
"This fascinating collection showcases the training, propaganda and educational films, as well as hundreds of insignia designs, which the Studio delivered to the war effort (32 shorts). "
Of course it is great to see more confirmation of this, after it was shelved last year, but the specs are hard to tell about. It doesn't mention victory through air power. Of course it also doesn't mention education for death or der fuehrer's face, but you would think that those would be part of the 32 shorts, and things like spirit of 43, home defense, commando duck. It looks like some of the 32 shorts will be the military education shorts. Gosh I hope this has victory through air power on it, not just the shorts.
"Walt Disney's vision of space exploration comes alive in this compilation of "
Disneyland" TV shows about outer space and the opportunities and challenges of space travel (6 programs)."
I'm actually surprised they are doing this. The follow up to "Disneyland" and "Behind the Scenes at the Disney Studios" this one will be great for the disney fans like us, but then will be the one that hangs around for a year not selling to the general public because they don't get why they want some old disneyland shows.
True Life Adventures?
By the way, thank goodness for these.
