i was just reading a Disney Dream trip report that includes pictures taken from the balcony of the walt disney theater - pictures of the show that is. The view seems to be really good up there - or maybe it was the camera view, but not the actual view.

Does anyone know what the view is like from the balcony?

i was hoping to get seats for my mother and sister on the main floor, close up and in the center, but i'm sure we won't be close enough to the front of the line for that..

so maybe i should try for the balcony instead?

or is that a bad idea?

We always had a good seat and we didn't get there super early. The view from the balcony is great! Really not a bad seat in the house. Now if you want to be on the main floor, up close, you may need to get there when the doors open. I think that is 30 minutes prior to the show.

we were on the June 15th dream cruise and we were told no cameras period i believe they used to say no flash photography we did sit in the balcony the first night and we got there just as the show started and found three seats together but then realized one was behind a post so my husband just moved to a single seat the view was great but i did prefer the main floor

We actually like the box seats in the balcony. They are moveable seats so you can have enough room for those with longer legs. There are short seats to sit on the rail and bar seats (or taller seats) to sit behind. However, they go very quick and you will almost always find the notorious "seat savers" in this area.

i wonder if the theater is open earlier in the day on embarkation day so that i can go scope it out...
it's sort of difficult to know without actually seeing it in person..

i just know i'm not going to be able to fight the crowds with my elderly mother and mobility challenged sister..

It is not normally open. However, it is open for the muster drill on embarkation since it is one of the muster stations. You may be able to stop in before heading to your muster station (if it is not your muster station).

oh , i'm an idiot - i think that's my muster station!!

if it is, i'll have a chance to scope it out together with my mom and sister! :goodvibes

We sat in the balcony, house right, second row, twice. It's easy viewing, especially for the children. A child in front of us dropped something over the railing, so that made me uneasy for the rest of the show (I kept my eyes more on the children than on the show). The rest of our party preferred orchestra, so we sat there for the rest of the shows. The theatre is open at 2:30 for the matinee shows.

Not sure if the theater is exactly the same as the Fantasy, but DD8 and I sat in the first row of the center balcony for one show. DD had to sit on the front of her seat and peer between the balcony railings to see the show. I also had to sit up extra straight to see above the railing, and I am average height, I think - 5' 6". So I don't recommend the first row of the balcony unless you are tall.

With your sister and mother, I would try for aisle seats in the main orchestra area. The CMs will be very helpful to anyone with mobility issues.

BTW, we never got there so early that we had to line up outside the closed doors and race anyone in. Just 10-15 minutes early or so and we walked right in and always had great seats.

We sat in the balcony for every show- however there ARE a few "bad seats" up there IMO. our first evening we were a bit late (as in not really late, but not super early enough LOL) and ended up on the first row. As mentioned above- the railing gets in the way of your view. No bueno (to me anyway- we're short people! LOL)
so we just made sure not to sit on the front row anymore, even one row back and it's not an issue anymore.
But also there are poles between the 3 sections in the balcony- if you're too far up in the balcony on either side (ie: not in the center and higher up) you're going to have a pole smack in your view. So again, there are some imperfect seats there but we just generally enjoyed the higher view. Probably because we're short and sitting on the main floor is a crapshoot if we're going to end up with tall people in front of us- not an issue in the balcony. :)

We liked the balcony seats except for when confetti/snow/etc falls. It never reaches the balcony seats so ds was a bit disappointed for that part.

We sat in the balcony one time during our cruise. I really liked it better than the floor seats except for one thing. I didn't like being able to see the stage floor. I felt that I lost some of the surprise in seeing the floor opening and seeing the puppeteers in there. I do think the view is so much better in the balcony but it's just not for me.
