Walt Disney and his wife celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary a week before Disneyland opened with a party on-board the Mark Twain.

I always laugh at his "anniversary" present to her- that petrified log by the river. I can just see her..."Oh... that's lovely darling. I know, why don't we keep it at Disneyland?" :rotfl: I don't know if that was for the same anniversary or a different one.

And I was there when it opened(9 years old).

Jack

Wait, you were there for opening day? Or one soon after? I have often thought, just give me a time machine and a camera and I'd go back to opening day to see for myself. :goodvibes Imagine the pictures I'd get!

Hey, that came from Florissant National Monument just a few miles from my house! I mean how much jewelry can a woman have? ;)

An anniversary gift and a tax write off. Walt was a man of vision.

At least it wasn't something attached to an electrical cord.

I remember the one and only time my daddy gave my mama one of those. Mama wasn't happy.

I like things with cords as long as they are small and have some sort of screen. I do like my tech gadgets. ;) A big rock...not so much.

Walt Disney Sometimes Used Alias Names
At times, Walt Disney used the names "Retlaw Elias Yensid" or "Retlaw Yensid". These are both his real name spelled backwards. In the movie "Fantasia", Disney named the sorcerer "Yen Sid"- the letters of "Disney" reversed.

It's said that when Disney was searching for land to build a theme park on, he used the name "M.T. Lott" so potential sellers wouldn't hike prices up on him.
